Jeb Bush Must Explain His Support For Common Core

Election 2016: Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush embraces one-size-fits-all national education standards that would turn schools into re-education camps for the left. His decision could cause trouble with GOP primary voters.

As is the tradition these days, Jeb Bush, brother of one former president and son of another, has announced via social media that he is preparing to run for president, setting the stage for another Bush-Clinton contest in 2016 should former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton get the Democratic nomination.

To be the Republican nominee, Bush must run a gauntlet of primaries where he'll need to persuade Tea Party types and hard-core conservatives to get behind an "establishment" candidate who supports Common Care, a program that former Rep. Allen West has called "the ObamaCare of education."

Common Core is a set of education and learning standards that so far has produced bizarre lesson and learning plans. Some see it as a progressive dream of turning K-12 schools into leftist re-education camps — much as many major universities and colleges already are.

The only justification for Common Core would be:

“We are smarter in Washington DC, and we think everyone should be learning the same thing, taught in the same way, with the same ideas and the same thoughts. Then we’ll all be on the same page.”

Isn’t same grand? We really think differences suck.”

This will put Jeb Bush on the same communal ground as the communal hippies of the 60’s. The media will be so proud of him.

Support for Common Core by politicians is easy to explain.

They have destroyed American public schools over the last sixty years. There is no explanation for what has happened that is politically correct or psychologically acceptable.

Therefore, a series of increasingly bizarre educational theories have resulted in “new programs”, fueled by torrents of taxpayer money and presenting themselves with increasing frequency. Teachers, wanting to be “up in the latest knowledge” so they don’t “fail their students” are now a caricature of their former selves as they recite lessons from curricula that nobody, themselves included, understand.

Common Core is just the latest permutation. It has the most government funding of all, and a lot of big, famous names (”experts”).

But its bottom line is the same as all the rest - “no student fails - only the system fails”.

My grandmother taught in NYC public for fifty years (1911-1961). Her line about students who could not or did not get with her program, “somebody has to clean the subways”, is what’s missing from our schools these past sixty years.

I keep wanting to know why he and daddy met secretly with odumbo at the white house a few years back. What was agreed upon? Has anyone ever heard?
