The heading is somewhat misleading. She was not fired. Instead, she was demoted to vice principal, and transfered to a different school.

I thought Rachael Jentel didn’t know how to read cursive writing, turns out she doesn’t know how to print either

Something tells me she was a screwup, and the school district was just waiting for a reason to demote her.

Did the principal actually letter that sign? Or was it Pedro the custodian making his $7.75 an hour?
Regardless - the principal had the duty to know it was wrong from the get go and should have told Pedro to do it again.

“She was not fired”
The headline did not say she was fired.

Did she...either place the signage or review and approve the signage?
If neither and the signage was placed under the authority of the day-janitor...why do we really care?
Oh...that’s right: unions and, well...

We cant assume because its an urban district inner-city that things like this can be swept over," he told the CBS affiliate. "If it were a suburban neighborhood, parents would be outraged."
No they wouldn't. They'd laugh.
School officials told NJ.com that the lettering "was placed by a custodian and the sign was near an entrance not normally used by staff." It was later corrected.
I'm all for "the buck stops here", but a demotion because of a custodian's ineptitude at sign-spelling is a bit much. Did they fire the custodian? Wouldn't be surprised if the custodian had a learning disability.
The best course of action here, IMHO, would have been to laugh about it and "sentence" the principal to change the sign everyday herself. Maybe with a new spelling "word of the day" or something.

Surprised “Public School Number Twenty” wasn’t spelled wrong...and nobody noticed.
