The problem is that the viewpoint of those who would have rioted in 1945/45 against the USAAF bombing German and Japanese cities has become the Zeitgeist for public schools, Hollywood, and academia.

The purpose of the MILITARY is to kill people and break things. There are certain contexts, and conversation where that saying is useful, but in most, it is nonsense, the military is so much more than a dumb club, to kill people with.
Two good examples of that is our Navy, and Army Special Forces, both are used to help win hearts and minds and many other missions, including humanitarian.

How about changing it to:
"Hands Up ! Don't Shoot !" That would be a little more in keeping with the progressive mindset.

LOL! Yup, if you have the 0400-0800 watch, you still gotta do your regular duties then if you’re E-3 or below you probably have mess duty too runnin’ the scullery.

True...but if you have the rev watch, you get to be the one who takes the hot Krispy Kreme donuts from the pier to the galley (with one box mysteriously disappearing somewhere around the quarterdeck area).
I LOVED the rev watch!

Yes, “The purpose of the Military is to KILL PEOPLE and BREAK THINGS”.
I believe Rush Limbaugh is one of those who uses that phrase .. along with me.
Most of my family agrees with me.
And .. why doesn’t the Navy have a contest and let the members of the Navy choose something better that the current slop.

As a former Navy Petty Officer I can assure you, that would end badly.

“See the world and ride the WAVES..”
For a while in the 80’s they didn’t want them to be call WAVES they were WINs (Women In the Navy)
We used to say you no longer ride the WAVES, “Join the Navy and hear the WINs blow!”

Recently I heard a Navy recruiting ad on the radio, and it seemed like they were promoting the Navy as a delivery service for disaster relief aid around the globe.
They may be changing the slogan, but the liberals are still at the wheel.
