Barack & Michelle Obama: We’re Victims of America’s Racism …Update: Michelle Obama Busted

This discussion was necessary after the grand jury decisions on Michael Brown and Eric Garner that had nothing to do with racism. People reported:

The protective bubble that comes with the presidency – the armored limo, the Secret Service detail, the White House – shields Barack and Michelle Obama from a lot of unpleasantness. But their encounters with racial prejudice aren’t as far in the past as one might expect. And they obviously still sting.

“I think people forget that we’ve lived in the White House for six years,” the first lady told PEOPLE, laughing wryly, along with her husband, at the assumption that the first family has been largely insulated from coming face-to-face with racism.

“Before that, Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago, who had his share of troubles catching cabs,” Mrs. Obama said in the Dec. 10 interview appearing in the new issue of PEOPLE.

“I tell this story – I mean, even as the first lady – during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn’t see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn’t anything new.”

In a 30-minute conversation, the president and Mrs. Obama candidly added their stories to the national discussion of race and racial profiling that was sparked by the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York.

Now I ask, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ANY Target employee was seen NOT wearing a red tee shirt and khaki pants?!?

Unless I deem the request a safety concern, I just do as requested.

This may come as a shock to you, but short people often ask tall people to help them get things off high shelves in a store. Those tall people don't have to work for the store. Hard to believe, I know, but it's true. Also, unlike you, most people do not regard store employees as being their inferiors. They regard store employees as normal people who are doing their jobs.

The HORROR of MODERN RACISM: A Swiss sales clerk did not want to show billionaire Oprah Winfrey a $38,000 handbag, and multimillionaire Michelle Obama was asked to get something from a shelf by a Target customer.

No one can convince me that Michelle Obama left the White House to take a stroll down the detergent aisle at Target.
I don’t have a clue what she went to Target for but I can’t picture her trying to find a better way to wash her family’s clothes.

I was in the detergent aisle, and she said — I kid you not — she said, ‘Excuse me, I just have to ask you something.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, cover’s blown.’ She said, ‘Can you reach on that shelf and hand me the detergent?’

She was asked to do that because she is tall, not because she is black. I'm a middle aged white guy and about every third time I go to the grocery store some short woman (usually older) asks me to grab something from the top shelf.

Fight heightism! Just because I'm tall doesn't mean I'm cut off from oxygen.

Why in the world was this woman shopping in the detergent department? Doesn’t the White House have maids galore that probably use industrial-size containers of cleansers and soaps shipped into the White House?

If she needed any of those items I’m sure she could get them by snapping her fingers at the Help.
