Was there fracking planned in NY state? The same formation that PA is fracking goes into the bottom half of Upstate NY from the PA border up till the NYS Thruway.

The area is ripe for it, but I believe the problem is that it is in the watersheds that provide the drinking water to much of the state. This has been an issue for years, as NYers watched neighboring Pennsylvanians get rich leasing their land to fracking outfits.
