RUSSIA'S SINKING ECONOMY BECOMING A GLOBAL THREAT
Associated Press ^ | Tuesday, December 16, 2014 | Josh Boak

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Russia's suddenly escalating financial crisis risks spilling beyond its borders and endangering parts of the global economy.

With economies in Europe, Japan, China and Latin America already ailing, fresh threats have emerged from Russia's shriveled currency, its move to dramatically boost interest rates, the damage from plummeting oil prices and Western sanctions over Russia's action in Ukraine.

The alarming 10 percent drop in the ruble over the past two days has amplified the economic turmoil in Russia. Investors fear that Russia may default on its foreign debt obligations - a move that would inflict hundreds of billions in losses on lenders abroad.

Europe does have gas reserves. So far this winter has been very mild and many of the central heating stations work also with heating oil. Then there are already some LNG terminals.

Russia can not make Europe freeze in the short term with threatening to cut their 30% supply. They also need the money they get from selling this gas and such move from Russia would certainly be retaliated.

Russia is feeling very threatened.

Russia has always felt threatened. They use it as an excuse.

If there is a war, it will come at a very inopportune moment with Obama as our warlord.

Whose side will he choose?

Beck is a sensationalist morphing to a Pope, no disrespect intended to the Pope. He has gone from forecasting the progressive demise with good analysis to now being on a campaign all about his health issues and beating the “Can’t we all get along” drums while he “tells” us how we “have” be living our lives.

Hannity is a headline hack at best. He cannot articulate a spontaneous argument about any issue without his prepared notes and talking points scripts.

When the Pretender in Chief took office gas in my parts was $1.87. We weren’t on the verge of global war then.

Um, actually, we were - a little thing called the GWOT?

“If the economy crashes in early 2016, the media will howl that the cause was GOP policy. The LIV will eat it up and vote in some slime even worse that 0bama.”

I agree with you. The best tool for ushering in tyranny is chaos. When there is economical chaos, cultural chaos (think OWS protestors en masse,) or chaos created by another terrorist attack, then we will see the masses clamoring for the government to “do something.” Fascists are all too willing to seize on that opportunity to “take control” in the interest of “the people.”

Our debt is creating the foundation for economic chaos and now we have global economies that may just be the first domino for us. We have wide open borders and I am sure that there are another 20 terrorists that have taken advantage of Obama’s amnesty steps, as a result we WILL have another major attack. We also have the OWS/communist front groups trying to create societal chaos.

It will not take much for the perfect storm to materialize. Sadly, the GOP-e leadership won’t be willing to stand on principle....

Since we export very little now as our manufacturing base is overseas how does a down turn in the gloBULL economy affect the USA? We already laid off our manufacturing workforce on purpose decades ago.

Russia annexed the Crimea in March when the price of a barrel of oil was over $100.

Who exactly again provoked whom?

Could it be that Vlad simply miscalculated?

I’m sure Vlad feels that way now. Of course, Russia felt it couldn’t lose the Black Sea warm water port its had since forever.

The administration warned a federal judge Monday to stay out of the debate over President Obama’s deportation amnesty,
saying decisions about whom to deport fall squarely within the executive’s job description, “which this court lacks authority to review.
