Lee: Weekend Session For Immigration Vote 'Worth It'
Breitbart ^ | 15 Dec 2014 | Caroline May

Sen. Mike Lee is defending the weekend's acrimony-inducing Senate session, explaining that it was important to get a vote on the constitutionality of President Obama’s executive amnesty.

“It’s always worth it when you stand behind the American people, who want to make sure these that things are being voted on,” Lee said during an appearance Monday on Fox News. “When we have a president who engages in acts of lawlessness and behaves as if he were a government of one. It’s always worth it to stand up for the American people and get a vote on whether or not the president should have taken that action”

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Lee forced a vote on Obama’s executive action on immigration over the weekend, after refusing to allow a quick vote on the must-pass government funding bill until their measure was allowed on the floor.

Lee explained that he opposed the secretive process of the creation of the so-called cromnibus, a $1.1 trillion government-funding bill. He takes issue with the lack of transparency and amendment process both in committee and on the floors of the House and Senate.

“So we felt that we should have at least one vote on some amendment, on some option somewhere to allow senators to signal their opposition to what the president was doing,” he said.

The Lee/Cruz effort was ultimately defeated on a 22-74 vote. They were able to get senators on the record about amnesty. On the other hand, by keeping the Senate in session, they gave Majority Leader Harry Reid time to advance a number of Obama’s nominations.

Cruz and Lee took heat from both sides of the aisle for the strategy, which forced senators to cancel plans and stay in session on the weekend.

In my lifetime, I’ve read of lots of accounts of individual Senatorial behavior on the part of some of our illustrious Senators. Cane beatings, fist de cuffs [shoot, nevermind about that. It was supposed to be a reference of ‘coming to blows’ but Google tells me it has some kind of pervert/queer meaning now... I digress..] eloquent verbal derision ..., absolutely combative behavior for those that could understand. Even maybe a duel or two.

Our Senators today, save Cruz or a Lee or a very few others, have little stomach for it and prefer to cringe behind their MSM sycophants and lies to their constuents about their vote trickery.

I think that I could safely say, however, that I think the citizens of Texas and Mike Lee’s state, sleep more content at night that at least one of their Senators has their back when it counts.

Reid would have kept the Senate in session to pass his Judges and nominees for admin post anyway.

This is Palin style bashing by a biased media. The GOP doesn’t decide when the Senate goes home and they know it.

Harry Reid runs that show. Over 300 bills passed the House and died in the Senate. Not once did Reid produce a real budget in 6 years.

Cruz put the Rinos in a position where they were unmasked as the lying scum they are.

Millions upon millions of Americans have had to take weekend jobs on top of their full-time job to make ends meet, what with skyrocketing health premiums. Whining about having work on a Saturday when they only work 26 week/yr is NOT going to play well, Ms. Ayotte.

So now we know every senator’s belief about whether Obama’s amnesty is constitutional or not. Of course it was worth it. Makin a list and checkin it twice. :-)

Hopefully, we get some version of a UKIP. The GOP will have to work with it or go nowhere.

I think it could happen.

It does not surprise me. As far as I am concerned this is the last hurrah for the GOP. If they screw us over again I am even willing to look at a third party.
