The Purveyors of Ted Cruz Derangement Syndrome
CHQ ^ | 12/16/2014 | George Rasley, CHQ Editor

Posted on 12/16/2014 7:10:24 AM PST by xzins

The Republican establishment has become infected with a new epidemic of “Ted Cruz derangement syndrome” apparently brought on by being forced to actually work at the job of being a United States Senator.

“Patient Zero” in this epidemic may be New Hampshire Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte who complained bitterly before last weekend’s rare Saturday session to debate the constitutional point of order on the “CRomnibus” that it interfered with her plans to go home and watch a performance of the holiday classic the Nutcracker.

Ayotte, by the way, has an F score of 44% on Conservative Review’s Liberty Score, compared to Cruz’s score of 95% and Mike Lee’s score of 100%..

Ayotte’s whining about having to work on Saturday is in stark contrast to what she said at the time President Obama announced his unconstitutional plan to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, “…the president should honor his own words that unilateral action on immigration reform is ‘not how our democracy functions’ and ‘not how our Constitution is written’.”

Of course there’s a big difference between Ayotte’s empty pontificating about the Constitution and actually standing up and fulfilling the sacred oath every Member of the Senate takes to “…support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”

You can read our article “The Exquisite Hypocrisy Of 20 Republican Senators” through the link.

In truth, Ayotte and the 19 other Republicans who joined the Democrats to vote down the Lee – Cruz constitutional point of order don’t really want to face the implications of their actions, so they have thrown out all kinds of other garbage in an attempt to distract voters from the fact that by voting down the constitutional point of order they have in effect endorsed the constitutionality of Obama’s planned executive amnesty.

The most common smear these purveyors of “Ted Cruz derangement syndrome” have been peddling is that by making them work on Saturday Cruz and Lee somehow advanced the Senate confirmation of many of Obama’s pending nominees for federal judgeships and executive positions.

And that smear has been spread by establishment Republicans in the media, such as the sometimes conservative Daily Caller’s Matt K. Lewis and our friends at The Washington Examiner, all of whom should know better.

Anyone who claims to be a national political commentator should be familiar enough with the Senate rules to know that there’s only one guy in Washington who sets the Senate agenda and floor time and that’s the Senate Majority Leader, and for another couple of weeks that’s Democrat Harry Reid.

Reid announced back on December 1 that he was going to push through Obama’s stalled nominees along with other so-called must pass legislation. “We have a lot to do and not a lot of time to accomplish it,” Reid said. “We might have to be here the week before Christmas, however Mr. President, not into the Christmas holiday.”

Among the remaining “must pass” business on Reid’s agenda were bills funding the government, reauthorizing defense spending, extending tax deductions and clearing nominations.

And back on December 13 Reid’s spokesman Adam Jentleson tweeted that “Sen. McConnell has known for weeks if not months that Sen. Reid planned to move forward on these noms. Maybe he failed to inform his caucus.”

But everyone in Washington was on notice, because up until the “CRomnibus” passed the House Reid had spent much if not most of the Senate floor time voting on Obama’s nominees – to little or no opposition from establishment Republicans we note for the record.

The fact of the matter is that Senators Ayotte and Flake, and the other Senate Republican whiners about working on Saturday, are the same Republicans who have some of the worst records for opposing Obama’s nominees. You’d be hard pressed to find an instance where any of them took to the Senate floor, particularly since December 1, to oppose an Obama nominee for any office, let alone a lifetime appointment to the federal bench.

But the hypocrisy of their position hasn’t stopped them from spreading the virus of “Cruz derangement syndrome” to carriers like Matt K. Lewis and the editors of The Washington Examiner, all of whom should have long ago been inoculated against such nonsense.

The smear against Cruz and Lee that their constitutional point of order against the “CRomnibus,” that forced Senators to actually work on Saturday, somehow advanced the confirmation of Obama nominees who would have otherwise died on the vine in the waning days of the 113th Congress has no basis in reality.

It is instead a well thought out plan by establishment supporters of amnesty to spread “Cruz derangement syndrome” into the general population of conservative voters, who so far have proven immune to its debilitating effects. We urge you to forward this article to your friends and use your social media channels to get the word out that this is nothing more than an establishment attempt to smear Cruz and Lee and distract voters from the real fights – the existential battle over amnesty for millions of illegal aliens and the future relevance to conservatives of the Republican Party.

It's a full court press against Cruz. I'm listening to some fast talker call Cruz names on the FNC show, "Out Numbered". I believe he called Cruz a "show-boater".

It's going to be a Palin smear all over again. So sick of the Elite's telling us what's best....

they have in effect endorsed the constitutionality of Obama’s planned executive amnesty.

Perhaps they have endorsed the executive amnesty, but the constitutionality can only be endorsed by the Supreme Court.

Padre, I must warn you that your provocative posts will get us all in trouble with Karl (The Architect) Rove. You have apparently already derailed the Romney-Dole (Mrs. Dole) Ticket that was going to sweep the GOPe into the WH. So let’s all get behind Jeb “el Chicano” Bush (pronounce it “BOOSH”, OK?

I’m sure they had another trick up their sleeve if that happened, possibly just letting the government shut down and blaming Cruz.

One of the dilemmas of leadership is doing what needs to be done even when it’s going to look to some like ego or showboating, or they will say it is even if they know the truth. How many activists in leadership positions have had this happen to them? Raise your hands.

Eric Cantor took TEA Dave Brat very seriously, buying millions in attack ads that gave Brat name recognition. We WANT the CDSers mentioning Cruz constantly.

I just worry about the Republican LIV believing the trash talk.

Hoping the tide of 2014 continues and Cruz has enough backers!

When amnesty, and the employer mandate kicks in, and premiums skyrocket again, the LIVers will run into the arms of the movement fighting to give them relief.

The demonstrated they know it won’t be the RATS. Now they’re learning it won’t be a big chunk of the RINOs, either.

Cruz is rightfully hammering the above on their treason to the American Family.

SJB, Jeb BOOSH ha servido como el gobernador de la Florida, ex-colonia de España, sería completamente natural que hubiera hablado el idioma de Cervantes en casa.

Furthermore, if Karl Rove says, "It's gonna be BOOSH," we must all suck it up, obey, and hold our noses to vote for another iteration of wimpgov. I too am disappointed, being a backer of the unbeatable Dole/McAnus ticket. My back-up vote was going to be a write-in of Juan Carlos de Borbón. If we are going to be living in a Latin American country, we might as well put some class to it.

BTW, Por el primer frase en inglés, oprime número 6.

It was only a few years ago, that Rove had a large booster club here at FR. Rove has been our enemy for at least 15 years. Hell, since birth.

Michael Medved was all wee-wee’d up last night about Cruz for the 2 minutes that I could stand to listen to him. Cruz really knows how to smoke out the phonies.

Overall, I say the media are the worst purveyors 1) On the other side, all of MCNBC and on our side 2) Jennifer Rubin of the ComPost. Cruz lives rent free in their heads.
