I am not a fan of the frat boy types. My limited interactions with them have largely been negative.
While I can, barely, consider it possible they’d be evil enough to do such a deed, I simply cannot imagine a random group of pledges being stupid enough to commit a major felony and utterly jeopardize their individual futures.
Most people aren’t really up to serious evil, regardless of what most think. To my mind, this is the main reason the Nazis went to the wildly inefficient extermination camp system. They had a 4M+ man army in place to kill whoever they wanted killed, but instead they chose to use desperately needed transport to ship people hundreds of miles in order to kill them more or less in secret.
Would have obviously been vastly more efficient to just kill people in place. But they chose not to.
I’m reading Crankshaw’s “GESTAPO” right now as luck has it. Millions were killed close to their homes, in Russia and Poland, by Gestapo/SS ActionGroups and by Reserve Police Battalions. Mostly the Western European Jews etc were transported to extermination camps in Poland.
First Hitler assempled a clique of like-minded sadistic psychopaths (Himmler, Goebbels, Goering, Heydrich etc.)
After that, there was no stopping him, once his henchmen were installed atop all of the important agencies. Similar to what we are seeing today with Holder, Clapper, Lerner-types etc. Ruthless amoral power-mad pricks. But loyal, and willing to lie on command.
Gestpos and KGBs don’t spring out of the earth or from an egg fully complete. They require assembly and nurturing. That is the phase we are in.
What UVA means to me is that they are ready to go to the scapegoating/Kristallnacht phase with full DOJ and MSM support. Luckily, this time, “Jackie’s” story fell apart. The next time, the “frat house” might be burned to the ground full of people.
