Philadelphia Police Officer Shoots Suspect in Head During Deadly Struggle
NBC Philly ^ | 12-15-14 | Dan Stamm

The family of a man shot in the head and killed by a Philadelphia police officer sought answers in the hours after the deadly incident during a traffic stop in the city’s Mayfair section.

The deadly gunshot rang out around 2:45 a.m. along the 6600 block of Frankford Avenue after police said the suspect reached for a loaded handgun — stolen last year — in his rental car.

"I would like to know why the police, law enforcement, has the right to kill instead of disabling," the victim's mother Tanya Dickerson said. "It has to stop, this is enough already."

Dickerson later identified her son Brandon Tate-Brown as gunshot victim.

Dickerson said that her son served five years in prison for aggravated assault stemming from a 2007 beating where he was charged with attempted murder. She said that since his release from prison, Tate-Brown was trying to get his life back on track — working at a rental car place — being a "good guy."

Dickerson said Tate-Brown's family contacted the NAACP to also investigate the case.

"There is no such thing as “shoot to kill” versus “shoot to
injure.” That only happens on TV. In real life, there is only
shoot to stop."

If I were the cops, I’d refuse to enter the neighborhoods where these feral animals roam. Let them have what they are asking for. Let them kill each other, that way it won’t be a controversy or even make the local news.

Why does every black criminals’ family believe they have the moral authority to demand anything from cops?

The tables need to be turned and the city should start billing the criminals’ family for all costs associated in dealing with their criminal family members. If they are going to raise criminal thugs that cost time money and manpower to deal with, they ought to get billed for it.

Enough of this crap just because a thug is black. End this bs right NOW.

donna: "There is no such thing as “shoot to kill” versus “shoot to injure.”

An armed man, holding a loaded weapon is called "Deadly Physical Force" for a reason
and the police responded 'in kind' !
Shoot to injure only occurs in movies like "Blazing Saddles".

All one has to do is ask their municipality for a copy of the use of force policy which the police have in place. If you get upset over the killing of the community's peeps, how many times they get shot, where they get shot, why they get shot, and what rules take place after they get shot, I suggest the activists start there.

But that would require reading, asking questions, attending city council meetings, and participating in the process. A bit more helpful than "Burn the bitch down" in a primal emotion driven fever.

They never stay in those neighborhoods. Eventually it will happen in other areas and the same bs spiel will come out of the thug familys’ mouths.

Yeah. Out at 2:45 a.m. with a loaded gun. Yep, just being a "good guy".

And even then lethal shots may not put someone down instantly. On drugs, or amped on adrenaline, they may still be a real threat for a minute or two.

Urban feral blacks have a totally different definition of what a “good boy” is than everyone else in civilized society.

So her thug of a son spent 5 years in prison for attempted murder, reaches for a LOADED weapon and she expects the cop to just “know” he wasn’t going to attempt to kill him? The Cop’s mother ought to bitch slap her!

Cops who would “shoot to wound” instead of “shoot to kill” at a perp who is going for a gun run a high risk of being dead cops. The perp had no intention of “shooting to wound”. The ONLY “normal” reason a perp reaches for his gun against other armed men is to shoot to kill. An abnormal reason a perp reaches for a gun is to trigger suicide by cop.

When one side isn’t concerned with facts it doesn’t matter what info is available for them to read about police policies. And reading may be a real struggle for many of them, as well.

A Convict doesn't have the right to carry, or have access to a firearm
Better he should have remained in jail for "three slops and a flop" than try to shoot a cop !,
and now Momma wants to know why the police didn't shoot to injure .
Unbeleiveable !

My guess is that he was not working for Welcome Wagon
