Something similar happened to me. Years ago, a car battery blew up in my face. I was at home alone, at my work shed. I couldnt see anything but I made it to the house, by time I got there, my eyes and face was hurting so bad that I laid down under the water spigot and poured water on my face. After a while I went inside and by time I got there, I was burning real bad again, so I put my head in the kitchen sink and poured more water. I knew I had to have help, thjis was before the days of 9-11, but my phone had some pre set call numbers,I found my friend Davids button.
I managed to get thje right button pushed and somehow, he happened to be close enough to hear the phone, incidentally, this was also before cell phones. Anyway, he rushed over, scooped me up and started rushing me to the hospital Going thru Marshville NC, we got pulled over.
David tried explaing to the cop what was going on, the cop kept us there for 30 minutes. We were there so long that the medical man in the factory we were stopped in front of, found out somehow about me, and came out there with his medical bag and helped me all he could. Finally, the cop called an ambulance to come get me.
45 minutes after being pulled over, I finally made the last 4 miles to the hospital.They flushed my eyes for about 2 hours and I went home.
Next day I walked into the Marshville police station and there sat the chief of police at his desk. He looked up and saw me, my face burned and red, both eyes blood red, and he said tome, Goddamn, I hope you aint as mad with me as your wife was yesterday!
