No, we didn't.

Why is this myth so persistent?

There are millions of guns in private hands in Australia.

I wish a couple of them were in the hands of people in that chocolate shop, but making out guns are banned here doesn't do anything except make us less safe by making it even less likely people will bother to do what they need to do to own them.

Sydney is my birthplace. Although I am not there this hits close to home so to speak.

Where I live in Colorado there are enough concealed carry permits and people who don’t go out without personal protection that with 13 hostages, the statistics would have 4 armed. My county has almost no crime too. Go figure.

They do the same for a lot of non-U.S. nations, such as Germany, where a cousin of mine actually goes hunting and does target practice with a German variation of the AR-15. If Freepers would just check their claims, they would sound more credible.

Calm down.

There are plenty of reports and videos on youtube talking about the extent of the gun ban and the spike in crime since the ban.

Now, let’s face it, your government didn’t exactly make it easier for Australians to own all types of firearms, did they?

No, they enacted the same type of legislation at the federal level that the leftist anti-gunners in this country are enacting at the state level and want to enact at the national level.

And of course, our experience is that, once they get an inch, they take the next yard.

Well, when the ban-and-buyback was enacted in 1996, the story was played up like mad over here...especially the turned-in-and-destroyed part. I remember it well. This was also not long after the "Crime Bill" of 1994 (commonly called the "Clinton Assault Weapon Ban" over here) was enacted, so it hit home hard.

Do you have an actual Lithgow SLR in your stable?
