Party’s Over: Canadian Navy Bans Drinking at Sea

The Royal Canadian Navy on Friday imposed an almost total ban on sailors drinking at sea, after a warship had to be recalled from an international exercise because inebriated crew members got into trouble.

US Coasties loved the Canook Navy! We would spend more time partying onboard their ships than downtown on port calls!

In Germany we used to often have joint exercises with German Field Artillery units.
They would always have plenty of beer stacked next to the ammunition.

Drinking is not the same as drunkenness. Just because some crew members could not handle their drinking it does not follow that no crew members can handle drinking.

I could be wrong, but I think I recall that the British Navy stopped the rations a few years back.
