I’m standing at the intersection of Dwight and Shattuck in Berkeley with my hands in the air, shouting, “Hands up! Don’t shoot!” It is the third night of protests over the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner and the grand juries’ decision against indicting the white policemen involved in each of these cases.

Surrounding me are students wearing Cal sweatshirts, young mothers with children, hippie types with gray ponytails, and a few middle-aged women like me. Although the crowd is sprinkled with brown and black faces, most of us are white.

The irony of being a white person mimicking a black person begging for mercy from a white police officer is not lost on me. But it doesn’t feel absurd or self-righteous; it feels like a welcome outlet for my anger and frustration.

Absolutely. There was a do-gooder university official about a week ago who tried to jump on the bandwagon and wrote a piece about how "all lives matter".

She caught holy hell for such crap. That kind of hate speech just can't be tolerated! All lives?? Including whitey?? I don't think so!! It's "black lives matter" and don't you forget it!

She groveled and apologized for saying such a stupid thing, of course.

Really. I’ve spent the last three months researching my ‘tree’ and haven’t even come close to knowing that, even if it happens to be. My family on my maternal grandmother goes back to 1704 here in this country...most of the generations here in Georgia. Not one slave owner I can see.

Frankly, I just don’t believe it. I think it is a device of convenience most liberals let roll off their mouths thinking no one will check out the true facts. Yes the whites' slogan should be "Hands up, shoot" Look at these pitiful numbers. Though whites outnumber blacks at least six-to-one the criminal homicides figures show us whites being bumped off at a meager rate of only a little more than two to one.
