enate Majority Leader Harry Reid is keeping senators in Washington for a rare Saturday session—and risking a government shutdown—after he went to extraordinary lengths to block Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) from forcing a vote to block President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty.

"As a result of Cruz’s and Lee’s efforts, they will now get a vote after the cromnibus cloture vote on Cruz’s constitutional point of order. The measure only requires 51 votes to pass, and since all 45 Republicans will likely vote for it, only six Democrats would need to support it for it to succeed. But, since everyone expects the Democrats who say they oppose Obama’s executive amnesty—there’s 12 total, at least—to not vote in a manner consistent with their rhetoric, it is expected that Cruz’s point of order will not pass the Senate."

SENATE TO VOTE ON OBAMA’S UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMNESTY

Washington – The Senate is likely to vote on the legitimacy of President Obama’s unilateral, unlawful actions, which include granting quasi-legal status, work permits and Social Security numbers to those who are in the country illegally. Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

“If Senators are opposed to President Obama’s executive action on immigration, they should vote in favor of Sen. Cruz’s constitutional point of order. A vote against the point of order is a vote in favor of unchecked presidential power and granting work permits and Social Security numbers to people who are in the country illegally. Heritage Action urges all Senators to vote yes.”

Earlier today it was reported that McConnell set out for home in KY at 6p last night after thinking it was all over, and Cruz has run the table since. Did Turtle turn around? Has anybody seen him on the Senate floor? \

If he didn’t turn around, this is symbolically serious.

I just went to Google news and saw that Politico describes this in their headline as “Reid seizes GOP fumble”.

Cruz is just getting started. I am sure he is the one guiding the actions on this issue.

“When Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was asked if he was frustrated with his conservative members on Saturday, he responded to a pair of reporters with a wink and a smile.”

Perhaps six of the nine Democrats who lost their seats will vote for this as they head out the door, as an “FU” and payback to Obama for putting his policies around their necks during their re-election companions.

Question for anyone:

Will the Cruz-Lee-Sessions actions in the Senate force any re-votes in the House?

The libs also want to amend the bill, and I believe if amended, it has to go back to the House.
