Growing divide among Senate Republicans on spending bill?
FOX News ^ | December 13, 2014

WASHINGTON – Republican aren’t mincing words about some in their own party as the political divide grows and the deadline to pass a spending bill nears.

Heading into a rare Saturday session, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told Fox News he was surprised that GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah went over his head Friday night and help up a vote on the $1.1 trillion spending bill.

A senior GOP source lashed out at Cruz and Lee, calling the move “hamfisted” and “amateurish.”

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters that he was surprised by Cruz and Lee.

On Friday night, the two Republican lawmakers demanded a vote on a proposal to cut funds from the bill that could be used to implement President Obama's new immigration policy, ending any chance the measure could clear the Senate and be sent to the White House with a minimum of fuss.

Officials in both parties said the bill remains on track for clearance by early next week. Even so, the move led Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to abandon plans to adjourn the Senate for the weekend, and raised the possibility of a test vote on the spending bill shortly after midnight on Saturday.

It’s all staged to make us think there are some members of Congress who actually care about us, but they only care about themselves.

Any person who can take a look at Senators Cruz, Lee, and Sessions actions throughout this attempt by Obama and the GOP-E and make that kind of nonsense statement is either not paying attention, ignorant, or purposefully lying.

The Republican Party is dominated by liberals and traitors. Ted Cruz et al. are in the minority. If you think things will change once the Republicans take control of the Senate, you are mistaken.

Being a Republican does not mean you are a conservative.

Thank you for the clarification. Your original post left me with the impression that you were lumping in Cruz, Lee, and Sessions with the failures in the GOP-E.

Do you get the impression that Mitch McClown-Car and Boo Hoo Boner are in over their heads and this is the reason why they keep falling on their faces? If so, you are correct ... and this is exactly the reason why those two dim wits need to be replaced ... immediately!

I am so happy that Cruz is my Senator. He is one of the first politicians that I have voted for that has not immediately disappointed me after taking office.

I will miss him in the Senate when he is elected President.

I didn't know all Republican senators reported to this slimy, conniving, liberal weasel. Do they need his permission to represent their constituents?

One must realize that the fight is not over big government/big spending versus small government/less spending but over who gets to be in charge of the abominable federal government. Both establishment parties want the same result (total government control) but differ minutely on how to get there. We the people will continue to be subservient to the ruling class unless/until something dramatic happens to change the status quo.

I agree with you. I find it beyond incredible that the majority leader in the senate and the speaker in the house completely control all legislation that is brought before their respective legislative bodies.

Where is Senator Rand Paul on supporting Cruz, Lee and Sessions? He seems to want less conflict with the party bosses since he is eying a Presidential run in 2016.

All...FYI:

Government funding runs out at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday night

However, the Senate has the ability to pass a life-preserver

from the House before that which will fund the government

until Wednesday.
