Jeb Bush has quietly consulted former Republican presidential nominee John McCain about how to run for president without pandering to conservatives in a GOP primary, according to a new report.
The New York Times, in a story published Friday, examines the former Florida governor’s thinking on a possible campaign. The story notes that Bush seems to be leaning towards running, but has no desire to change some of his political positions to win over the party’s base.

“I just said to him, ‘I think if you look back, despite the far right’s complaints, it is the centrist that wins the nomination,’” Mr. McCain, an Arizona Republican, said he told Mr. Bush.
The two issues most commonly mentioned as potential problems for Bush with the base: immigration and Common Core. Bush has argued for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants and has also supported the Common Core educational standards — stances the GOP base vehemently opposes.

Let us hope he takes McCain’s advice ... and loses.
Of course, he may find the primaries much more difficult than he thinks, especially if Romney is planning on another run. Let them fight amongst themselves and maybe they will bloody each other enough to make them both undesirable. Heck, they can even let Christie join in.

Yeah Jeb. Just forbid your team members to say anything negative or critical about democrats, but to badmouth conservatives and conservative principles every chance they get. You also might want to pick a conservative running mate and then have your staff stab him in the back like I did with Sarah Palin.
Oh, and be sure to touch base with Mitt. He did those things, too in 2012 and got his kiester handed to him. If you need any more pointers along these lines, call Rove. He’s made a study on successfully selling out your Party the last 2 presidential cycles and is a real pro at it./S
Jeb Bush can’t run as a “Reagan” simply because a tiger can’t change it’s stripes. Or a zebra. Bush is who is. He is his father’s son. He is W’s brother. And according to W both are Hillary’s brothers in law.
Why would Jeb Bush pander to a loser? Everyone knew that John McCain did not have a chance when he ran for President.
"Everyone" refers to those who have common sense and can see clearly. They are called the Tea Party but there is no party; just many, many citizens and voters with common sense and a distaste for corruption.
These are the people who believe in God, that abortion is murder, who believe in fiscal responsibility, who know that men and women are NOT interchangeable, and that the "science" of global warming is far from settled. There is more...

Well, if you read carefully, you’ll note that he never explicitly said anything about winning, just not “pandering” to conservatives. So I guess he’s going to exactly the right horse’s ass.
