Hawaii hopes it has an offer Honolulu-born President Barack Obama won’t be able to turn down.

It hopes to build him a presidential library on the ocean, with a dramatic view of his hometown’s famed Diamond Head volcanic crater. The state’s abundant sunshine would generate solar power and support vegetable gardens on site.

Hawaii officials predicted Thursday that the prime, 8-acre spot on a rocky shoreline between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, combined with the state’s many tourists, would make the facility one of the nation's most heavily visited presidential centers. …

Surely, we can find locations in Alaska that are even farther away from Washington.

Shemya is nice this time of year...

Well . . . Diamond Head is a volcanic caldera. Scientists guess that its last eruption happend about 150,000 years ago.

That pic has to be the Big Island, right? Reminds me of a Carlin routine, talking about someone who was stupid enough to build his house on the slopes of an active volcano and still did not expect “lava in (his) living room”.

” ... Honolulu-born President Barack Obama ... “

The AP might be trying a little too hard on this one.

How about the island where the volcano is active? There is plenty of real estate that can be obtained rather cheaply by the US government for an Obama library.

I still have a hunting cap I bought when I was there about 30 years ago which bears the logo:

CHIMA GUNS

It's fun to wear it here in Bavaria and watch the reactions.

It would be worth watching the oceans rise in order to see that building inundated.

After Hussein is finished with his current term. and moves to California, where do you think his LIEbrary will be???

American's can't afford to travel and visit Hawaii, why would he build it there...you will see his visits there also cease to exist.
