Liberals: Obama abandoned us

As Democrats took sharp aim at the White House over a year-end spending bill, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden scrambled to stave off a revolt from congressional liberals over a deal that no one in the West Wing or the Democratic Party really wants.

Obama’s base says he’s sold them out—and didn’t even wait to do it until Republicans officially expand their majority in the House and takeover the Senate come January. Some on the left are worried the wide range of policy riders in a spending bill is a worrisome sign as Republicans take over the Senate next year – and are already urging Obama to steel himself and ready his veto pen.

As the spending bill lurched unsteadily through Congress, the populist wing of the party has felt no hesitation about ripping a bill that the president wants to pass.

“A vote for this bill is a vote for future taxpayer bailouts of Wall Street,” said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) just a few minutes earlier on the Senate floor. “It is time for all of us to stand up and fight.”

“Democrats don’t want it in,” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) told POLITICO. “I don’t know a Democrat that wants it in at all.”

“The whole bill needs to go,” said Democracy for America spokesperson Neil Sroka. Though he said the Dodd-Frank and campaign finance elements stood out the most, the legislation “is a right-wing fever dream and anyone who calls themselves a Democrat has no business voting for it. If the GOP wants to pass it, they should own it, soup to nuts.”

PS re the Politico and the “populist wing” of the Democrat Party. Again their use of a cover-up word for “Marxist”. Usually they use “progressive wing” which is the old Soviet term for their communist followers.

Look it up in the writings of Lenin and Stalin.

The Dems have reached, and possibly passed, the tipping point where all the policy wishes of the disparate members of their coalition are starting to collide with one another.

The Dems are masters at reinvention and strategy. Take for example what happened after Reagan's 2nd term. The Dems created a front group called the DLC which steered the party into a populist, pro-growth party. It's already happening now with Elizabeth Warren as its leader.

How do you sell a white blue-collar voter on the Dem Party when his job was just taken by an Hispanic granted amnesty by the Democrats?

The Dems aren't going to talk about amnesty and they'll make sure their media arms won't either. Because the illegals will already be here and registering to vote and being eligible for benefits.

What they'll talk about is how we can bring back manufacturing jobs to the U.S., trade, and making sure that everyone has access to high-tech computer skills.

How do you sell the middle class on the Dem Party when their tax dollars are going to support political payouts to key member groups of the Democrat base?

That's not going to be mentioned either.

I'm telling you, the rebranding has already begun. The Dems are going to turn themselves back into the old lunch-pail, pro-national security, and pro-jobs Dems of yesteryear.

Which is why we need an anti corporatist conservative.

We will need a Republican who can connect with working-class and blue-collar folks. Unfortunately, other than Palin and perhaps Scott Walker, that Republican doesn't exist.

The Democrats in 2016 are going to talk about jobs, manufacturing, keeping America safe, and protecting the little man against the mean-old big business. Amnesty, global warming, gun control are going to be non-existent in 2016.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.
