Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) spoke to reporters today before the House votes on the trillion dollar Omnibus bill that funds amnesty and Obamacare.
Boehner said if the House does not vote for the bill today then members will be here “until Christmas.”

Several House Republicans have said they won’t vote for a spending bill that funds Obama’s executive amnesty plan.
So the common worker is usually working all the way up to Christmas eve, but doing that is beneath the dignity of the politicians.

Working until Christmas, almost like ordinary people? That would be terrible - others might not understand that they are special and privileged.
They have no moral right to spend like drunken sailors (and in fact they’re far worse, since all the drunken sailors I knew stopped spending when they ran out of money). They have no legal right to spend like drunken sailors, since they are acting well beyond the scope of the Enumerated Powers. They owe it to our children to spend responsibly. I’m okay with them staying there with one week spending bills at today’s level of spending, until they agree to spend responsibly or until inflation (in a few decades) brings the budget to a reasonable fraction of GDP. I’m not okay with them passing a bill that harms our children simply so they can take a longer vacation.
