Congressional leaders unveiled a massive $1.01 trillion spending bill Tuesday night that will keep most of the federal government funded through September.
The legislation is expected to pass in the coming days and will allow the new Republican- controlled Congress to clear the decks of lingering spending issues, while setting the stage for a prolonged fight with President Obama over immigration policy.

And when September comes, the crash.
The GOP’s payback to the communist ‘RATS for sticking it to America today. Lowlifes. All of them.
>> a government shutdown
Which in reality would be paid vacation for the 17% affected.
Here it is:

Senate Amendment to H.R. 83
They going to take our money AND our freedom.
We can thank them now. :D
why the heck fund it through September!!!!????
Why not fund it just through February or March at the latest and let the newly elected congress do what it was elected to do... STOP OBAMA!!!
Wow - you’d think Nov never happened.
They’re drunk. Drunk with power. They don’t care about November’s mandate. They’ve overridden it.
They need to fund it through the year so they don’t actually have to do anything next year. The will be free to put a bunch of showboat legislation so they can go home and boast of their conservative chops. Its all theater. Of course since they have the (R) behind their name, most will return in 2017.
I just wrote my congressman Bill Flores and encouraged him to NOT vote for this crap.
Wow! Anything to prevent another shutdown - heaven forbid that the Media blames the Republicans again!
Hell, if we could only shut down the government for a few years, we just might survive! Only things paid are the requirements, it affects nothing else it seems but Republicans cringe every time it happens. In reality, only about 15% of the government is actually affected - a good thing! No, default has no part of the discussion regardless of how much the Democrats scream!
Bill Flores is part of the 2010 TEAnami wave group.
Someone mentioned that Rep Salmon (R-AZ) said that there are 18 R reps who will not vote for this crap.
ALL of the TEA reps, who rode in on the 2010 TEAnami, as well as TEA reps since, should be opposed to this final straw.
Encourage him to not re-elect the man who forced this though: Speaker Boehner.
And they should be mad as hell at Boehner for forcing it through!
If they vote for Boehner for Speaker in January after he pulled this then they’re despicable liars.
That's because what Nov taught them was this:
This is the main reason that I didn't want the Republican party to win in November (don't mistake that as me saying I wanted Democrat party to win; I didn't want that either) — that they've done a lot of nothing for the past 6 years, failing to stand for anything should not, IMO, be rewarded. (And they do view Nov as their own reward, rather than as a punishment for the Democrats.)
We need a name and shame thread...
Of the 2010 (and all) TEA Reps....who voted for Boehner for Speaker, and who is going to vote for this bill?
If 1 trillion will fund the government for nine months, why do we have annual budgets exceeding three trillion?
Oh they’ll ALL vote against the bill.
It’s a Democrat bill and the Democrats will pass it with a very few R votes. Boehner’s presented Democrat bills before.
If their electorate tells them not to vote for Boehner they won’t.
Could it be that both parties want to buy votes? Maybe you should be asking why does neither party care about excess spending when we are so far in debt? The answer is for short term benefit unfortunately and the problem belongs to both parties regardless of platforms.
Don’t look to the future because it is bleak!
