Washington (AFP) - Several NFL players showed their support Sunday for the "I can't breathe" protests sweeping the United States demanding justice for black men who have died at the hands of white policemen.

On Saturday, Chicago Bulls NBA star Derrick Rose wore a T-shirt bearing the words, which have become the slogan of the demonstrations in major US cities because they were the last phrase uttered by a black father of six in New York when police placed him in a chokehold.

As a native Houstonian, I try to keep up with the Houston Oilers, but I probably don’t do a very good job of it, it has probably been years since I paid attention to pro sports.

“Several?” Please be specific. How many? As usual, the premise is wrong, intended to misinform, mislead and make an emotional appeal. Think with your head, not your heart. Love with your head and heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0uMt2cKd7c

....”NFL players showed their support Sunday for the “I can’t breathe” protests”.....LOLOLOLOLOLOL....

NFL ‘arrests’ are about as common as J.J. Watt swats or Eli Manning interceptions

They should take it one step further and nominate an Official "I can't breathe" team.

I nominate the 49ers. Robert Carradine did not choke as much as the Niners have.

Can't breathe? Not many of these guys can read either.

They can't, but they sure know how to take PEDs....the entire NFL roster looks like a Mr Olympian show.....good grief....why even drug test

... What most people don’t know is that the most common statement/phrase uttered by perps that are being restrained is “I can’t breath.” So when Eric Garner uttered those same words .... it was just another day at the office when the perp complained. It just isn’t that unusual.

Opps: David Carradine, not Robert.

Exactly, and I don't doubt for a minute that due to his size and ailments he was extremely uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable is very predictable if one resists being arrested, so one would think he'd go out of his way to be cooperative. After 31 times, you'd think he'd get the routine memorized. And yes, I recall arrestees who complained they couldn't breathe the minute cuffs were started to be applied, even while standing, not an uncommon utterance.

Did some laundry instead.

Then you don't have to get agitated, especially with all the spin.

Excellent idea...I’d almost dare any NFL player to do this and see what reaction we’d get from the thug communities.

One of the many reasons why I watch hockey... you don’t see the NHL players acting this asinine.

That would be much more effective in making us dismiss his whining...... if he wasn't dead.

Anybody who resists arrest is an idiot even if its a wrongful arrest. Its a fight you aren’t going to win in the street but you can win in the courts.

More often than not, its not even an arrest. Often police will detain people on the scene to secure the situation while things are sorted out. I’ve had a cop’s gun in my face and been in handcuffs a couple of times only to walk free a few minutes later. I’ve even spent the better part of a day in jail only to have a cop drive me home without charges later that afternoon.

I’ve had plenty of opportunities to get my butt kicked by police and its never happened.

I was told by a lib once that only racists are hockey fans.

Quite funny,I think.

I’m almost afraid to say I prefer white sheets over colored sheets——or should I say “sheets of color”?

The excuse for the high cigarette taxes was lung disease. Ironic how the law itself became the villain taking away this man’s breath.
