Dems' final insult: Landrieu crushed
Politico ^

In the final insult of a devastating 2014 election for Democrats, Sen. Mary Landrieu, the party’s last remaining statewide officeholder from the Deep South, was trounced Saturday in the head-to-head Louisiana Senate runoff election.

Republican Bill Cassidy’s resounding victory is the ninth Senate seat picked up by the GOP in this year’s elections, three more than the party needed to take control of the chamber. With nearly all the ballots counted, Cassidy led Landrieu by 14 points, 57 percent to 43 percent.

There are a couple of huge reasons (aside from energy issues) for the fantastic ouster of Ms. Landrieu.

1. Amnesty for illegal aliens. Nobody likes amnesty (in fact we find it more than scary), except for Dems, illegal aliens, (and Boehner and Graham).

And there is another reason that news and other media do not seem to grasp. And that is...

2. Lawlessness and mob rule and tacitly siding against law enforcement. People want to feel safe and that LEOs will be allowed to protect them and their property from lawless gangs. Dems seem to be more keen on blame, self-pity, and disobedience mongering than upholding laws and supporting law enforcement. Again, voters find this to be scary and motivating, poll-wise.

I suspect that the above two items drove GOPers and Indies to the polls with renewed vigor and purpose. Borders and law and order will be big issues in 2016, watch for it.

Why do all these reports omit Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL)?

Because since Florida has had longer and more immigration from the North, the demographers have differentiated it from the other states of the former Confederacy. Add to that the significant Cuban, Caribbean and South American populations on its SE (Miami) coast add to that differentiation (for now.)

One of the markers of that status is that it was the first post-reconstruction southern state to elect a Republican Governor, Claude Kirk, in 1967 (I believe).

No - they’re going to say the majority of people didn’t vote and those people are for them. They just need more and bigger busses to drive them to the polls.

Obamacare seems to be missing from your list.

No doubt this will be a big item going forward as the mandates will prove very unpopular.

After watching he election blowout, any sane dem at this point is thinking of securing the border and doing away with obamacare. But seeing that none are, one can only infer from this that there apparently are no sane dems.

“Didn’t old Harry Reid predict that the Democrats would hold the Senate?”

Oh yeah, it was the snooty “of course they will” reply from all of the wanna-be commies...

The amazing thing is the REPUBLICANS aren’t learning from it.

They keep trying to be Democrats light. They aren’t defending what Americans want.

True, I did leave it out, and your point is quite valid. Obamacare [sic] has been an issue for many years, and many folks are either inured to the topic, or they don't see the built-in traps that are about to spring on them (yet).

I suspect that amnesty and mob lawlessness are more urgent matters to some voters; and, that the risks are more easily visualized (and feared).

A strong majority of Americans dislike Marxism. Which is today’s democrat party.

Obama is the dems first and last insult at the present moment of time. He is also about 75 percent of their middle belly as well. They had better get used to the body shots, with his face punching enthusiasm directing his swings in the sport of political beatings. His corner people are clowns. He is just a mean little evil Marxist jihadi boy with all the good toys.

"Why do all these reports omit Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL)? "

Bill has, sort of, "checked out" from the real world. As long as he lays low and doesn't really DO anything, he can get re-elected...for more of the same.

Bill has been to outer space, but he brought back too much of it with him on the way home. So he is just an empty space being filled by an empty body. That's why he doesn't really count.

He says he's avoiding the obvious "Beavis and Butthead" comparison and he wants to be called "Willie" Nelson from now on.

As close as the Governors race was, I don’t think a Republican can win the Senate against Nelson If he runs again
