Five reasons Mary Landrieu lost
The Hill ^ | 6 Dec 14 | Jonathan Easley

Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-La.) luck ran out Saturday night.

The Democrat’s colleagues talk about her as a fighter who has won tough runoff elections in red Louisiana before, even if she was the underdog against Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.). But in 2014, a host of factors conspired to keep her from ultimately falling short for a fourth term.

Collapse among white voters

Landrieu’s support among black voters in Louisiana is nearly universal, but strategists in the state wondered if there were enough of them to counteract Cassidy’s huge lead among white voters.

There were not.

Landrieu’s percentage of the black vote was in the high 90s on Nov. 4, but Cassidy took more than 80 percent of the white vote.

Democrats, particularly those in the South, have suffered a complete collapse among white voters. Landrieu was the last white Democrat from the Deep South in the Senate, and none remain in the House.

So now Republicans have an historic 54-seat majority in the Senate.

Does it even matter?

I’m wondering if that support is as universal as many claim.

"This victory happened because people in Louisiana voted for a government that serves us, that does not tell us what to do," Dr Cassidy said.

He can include the rest of the US in those ringing sentiments.

Look in the mirror and repeat that to yourself every day, Bill.

The Dems certainly don’t think so, or they would have tried to help Baby Fat a bit more.

Unless the Republicans take some serious steps to actually use that majority, for example, NOT CONFIRMING ANY JUDGES (including the Supreme Court, should that open up) until this Executive Amnesty is rescinded, then the Dems are right.

Given what we’re hearing the Dems do appear correct.

Pray the GOPe years from this (but they won't).

A candidate who carries 80% of the white vote in a statewide or national election cannot be defeated.

A candidate who carries even 60% of the white vote is strongly favored to win.

AND, things that increase a candidate's share of the white vote also just happen to be good for the country.

2016 = Go White, Go Right, or go home.

This statement misses the salient point in the election. While touting the importance of maintaining the very high percentage of the black vote, the writer failed to mention how badly the black vote diminished a percentage of the total electorate.

The black voters did not turn out. They deserted the democrat.

Instead of constantly blathering on about the GOP problem with minority voters, the Democrat media fails to diagnose the collapse of the Democrat Party among Middle Class Whites as an even greater problem.

After Hillary’s defeat, they may catch on.

It’s a shame that Virginia did not require a runoff. Mark Warner and his helper liberal meddler Bob Starveus got reelected. The democrat free pass, hiding in plain sight.

Landrieu's vote for Obamacare was dubbed "the Louisiana Purchase."

It’s funny to see that the major MSM outlets websites are COMPLETELY ignoring the story this morning. Can’t find it on CNN, and it’s buried far down the page on the Washington Post.

Just once I want to see an article that explains why Bill Cassidy won. Not one media outlet has focused on the positives Cassidy brings to the senate. The dripping bias is like rotting fish through newspaper.

Yup, but the enemy within, euphemistically known as ‘the media’, will ignore whatever their masters tell them to ignore and continue to float the lies. Sadly, a too large percentage of American voters will swallow the lies like candy.

Had last night's election gone the other way, the mainstream media would have screaming headlines over the "Comeback Kid".

But it was not to be.

We have a winner! She basically dared the State’s voters to hold her accountable. She never figured the Democrat machine would lose those she pissed off with those comments. Which points to another real issue for her and other Dems - they are totally out of touch with real America.
