Strange how they mention a CT Scan, CT Scans don’t diagnose Acid Reflux(My Mom and I both suffer from it) you have to have an Endoscopy done to diagnose it

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!!!! I went to work and performed my duties...... I suggest that the cOMMUNIST iN cHIEF do the same. After all, he has better health care than I do... If I can do it.... then SO CAN HE!

Yes, I agree. The scan is way overkill IMO, unless it’s a very bad case and they are trying to assess total damage.

My guess is they were checking to make sure that’s all it was. Heartburn can be a sign of esophageal cancer and a CT scan should pick a tumor, if there was one.

If you could have the best doctors give you thousands of dollars of tests and not pay a dime for it, just for kicks and giggles, wouldn't you spend an afternoon doing it?

Me either.

A CT scan is a good idea! A CT is equivalent to 100 X-rays in terms of radiological exposure.

Preferred examination
Among imaging studies, barium esophagogram findings can demonstrate anatomy and possible complications of reflux disease (strictures). Reflux and inadequate gastric emptying may also be demonstrated.[4]

Nuclear medicine gastric emptying studies are sensitive in evaluating for incomplete gastric emptying.[5]

Presently, no role exists for computed tomography (CT) scanning, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or ultrasonography in the routine evaluation of patients with reflux disease.

Either he has something more than a “persistent sore throat” x 2 weeks or the CT scan was an unnecessary procedure at this point in the game. I know he is POTUS, but surely his insurance has guidelines which must be followed.

How many of us have health care policies which will pay for a CT Scan because of a sore throat? How many of us could afford to pay out of pocket for a CT Scan because we wanted that extra diagnostic procedure to rule anything else out?

This is where the GOP needs to re-frame the issue of obamacare. It is a golden opportunity. The exempt have policies which cover the extras denied to each & everyone of us and the rich will be able to pay out of pocket for procedures none of us can afford. These extra diagnostic procedures are either not covered or cost prohibitive.

What better example to have than the President of the United States, the same person who destroyed a functioning system rather than correct what needed to be corrected? I can hear the objections. That would be playing politics with the health of POTUS. My response would be the dems played the worst type of politics when they passed obamacare. Turnabout is fair play.

Right on the money. CT Scan will rule out masses or hernia’s, find pockets of gas, but does NOT touch GERD. Endoscopy is the only way to rule it and Barrett’s Esophagus out.

Be aware that there are 2 small studies linking PPI’s to Gastroparesis. And those PPI’s long term are linked to bone density issues...OP. Idiot doctors know this factoid, but do not caution patients, especially women to go on OP preventive vitamins and minerals, I don’t mean just the Cal and D3 they advise after you develop OP. Skip the OP drugs, they all come with High FDA Warnings on every one of them, and is another drug doctors do not inform patients about the FDA warnings.

Wedge pillow helps. No food after supper. Watch the spices and oils. Plenty of water, skip the soda’s.
