THE SEXODUS, PART 1: THE MEN GIVING UP ON WOMEN AND CHECKING OUT OF SOCIETY

"My generation of boys is f****d," says Rupert, a young German video game enthusiast I've been getting to know over the past few months. "Marriage is dead. Divorce means you're screwed for life. Women have given up on monogamy, which makes them uninteresting to us for any serious relationship or raising a family. That's just the way it is. Even if we take the risk, chances are the kids won't be ours. In France, we even have to pay for the kids a wife has through adulterous affairs. "In school, boys are screwed over time and again. Schools are engineered for women. In the US, they force-feed boys Ritalin like Skittles to shut them up. And while girls are favoured to fulfil quotas, men are slipping into distant second place.

My chief beef here... it’s still a team effort even if not every player actually carries the ball. Some guard and help the players who ARE carrying the ball.

Spoutings about “SOCIETY is so bad, ergo marriage is a rotten option for me” are so off target (to mix the sports metaphors).

Well some of us spent years not finding the right person, and some never married, but in the end ...there is no marriage in heaven or sex. Jesus explained that when they asked about the brothers who died, and whose wife she would be?

‘The grass is always greener on the other side for some’, so there is a lot of adultery, divorce, and now we have the gay movement. If men think they are confused, think about the single women who do want a normal life (not feminists)...it’s hard to know who you can flirt with, and who you can’t. Anyone who has spent any length of time single in this dating atmosphere in past thirty years...whew...not good, especially for Christians.

“Please note that if everybody did this then the bible itself would be a lie... humanity would die out.”

Well, only Christians would die out, as only Christians bother to follow the commands of the New Testament, and we know that only a few will follow that path anyway. I am not worried, because not very many Christians even can resist temptation and take that course.

As for the unbelievers, well, things regulate themselves, and that is the entire point. When women get desperate enough for a husband, they will begin to back off some of their more intolerable demands and do what they need to do in order to entice men back to the proposition of marriage. As proud as they are, nobody takes pride to the point of extinction.

Well, if you don’t want to answer the question, then I think that demonstrates that it is a very good defense.

Maybe you can answer after you get that beam removed from your eye.

They are both happy with their own lives, which is good.

If it is meant to be, they will find someone that they will love and cherish.

They just have to find the flower in all the weeds.

Good luck with your kids.. I know that trusting and putting yourself out there after being hurt can be very hard to do

“And you have certainly not established that it is “holier” not to choose to engage with matters in this physical earth (if that is the construction you choose to put upon “worldly” in this context).”

Paul is clear that it gives one more to devote to heavenly concerns. If that doesn’t fit the definition of “holier”, then I don’t know what does. Heavenly matters are sacred, worldly matters are profane. The profane is not necessarily sinful, but it is absolutely less meaningful and of lesser substance than the sacred.

“Seems like the idea was “don’t count on anythinq beinq permanent.” And it makes sense for a time when beinq Christian meant you could lose property, spouse, children, and your own life. At that point simply holdinq on to your faith, and helpinq everybody else to hold onto theirs, had to be the major priority.”

No, this Scripture applies to Christians at all times. The reason that you shouldn’t count on these things is because they are not permanent. They will pass away, for all of us, when we die. You will not take your property, spouse, children, or anything else of this world with you. Perhaps you will see them again in heaven, but they will not be your “spouse” anymore, but a sibling, a fellow child of God.

“Is that the life you say you have, in accordance with Scripture? That you’re not clinqinq to any of those thinqs?”

I try not to be too attached to worldly things, surely, but I am not perfect. There are certainly things that I am probably too attached to, but Christ is working on fixing that, I’m sure :)

He said to them, “you guys are lucky you found anyone to marry you”.

For men like that, fortunately there is no shortage of women desperate to marry! They put up with a lot. No thanks!

“That’s really a separate matter which isn’t a reason to shun marriage prima facie.”

I’m not shunning marriage. I’d love to get married, but I can’t. It doesn’t exist anymore, at least not in this country. We have something that we call “marriage” but does not fit the definition of marriage, so it’s just a sham. I refuse to pretend this sham is actually marriage, and fall into that trap.

Yes, but you will only find out if it was or wasn’t love in hindsight, based on that test.

I agree. The feminist idea that “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” only applies while the good times last. When things start going south in society, “independence” becomes a lot less appealing than “security”.

Only if we're talking about a man with character. The one I married ran up an enormous debt without telling me, and I did not leave until it was paid off. I like keeping track of my money by myself, with no chance of someone undermining my life.

I have two younger nephews that have both been put through the ringer.

The first married a liberal whacko (serious mental case) who left him after two years for a guy 30 years older than him.

The second, they divorced after they lived together for about seven years and then married for about two. She was having an affair with one of the kids teachers at the school. She then proceeded to trick him out of his equity in the house by having a verbal agreement of some sort about not having to pay any child support until he got his crap back together. Now, a few years later she is suing him for 30K back child support. (the kids are 17 and 14 now). The attorney said she will win. Incidentally, she has spent most of the child support on boob jobs, plastic surgery, trips, etc.

I stopped reading Dilbert when Adams got political on behalf of the deviants, but this classic strip reminds me of your situation:

No kidding, most feminists are dykes. They hate the nature of real men and are jealous as heck. Penis envy. They are not respected by most women but they do one heck of a lot of damage to normal heterosexual relationships, marriage and love. They are twisting heterosexual males by define the abnormal as normal. They are bulldozer against love and all that is good about real men.

I echo what another poster said, that not everybody is supposed to be married. Some are given the gift of celibacy. And being glad for your station in life is important. So none of this is try to tell you what you should do in your life.

But it does seem that you are cynical about the existence of real love, and I wanted to share with you a song that Don Francisco sang for his wife at their wedding, because it explains why I believe we CAN know it’s love even in the middle of it (not just in hindsight) It also speaks to the eternal nature of love, and how the love outlasts even the marria ge, as you mentioned:

I Could Never Promise You (by Don Francisco)

I could never promise you, on just my strength alone,
That all my life I’d care for you, and love you as my own.
I’ve never known the future; I only see today.
Words that last a lifetime would be more than I can say.

But the love inside my heart today is more than mine alone.
It never changes, neeifa isee, kefai, efai, efai, efai,e (Sorry; I’ll leave that so a computer stud can figure out why my computer froze up, typed that, and then wouldn’t let me input anything until I restarted my computer and restored this page)

OK - again -
But the love inside my heart today is more than mine alone.
It never changes, never fails, never seeks its own.
And by the God who gives it, and who lives in me and you,
I know the words I speak today are words I’m going to do.

And so I stand before you now, for all to hear and see
And promise you in Jesus’ name the love He’s given me.
And through the years on earth and as eternity goes by,
The life and love He’s given us are never going to die.

The life and love He’s given us are never going to die.
