I'm so confused...I thought Obamacare was the panacea to cure all of America's troubles...

I'm going back into my rainbow and unicorn safe-place now...

“We strongly, strongly encourage people to come back to the website and shop,”

They make it sound like we are out shopping for new curtains or something. These people suck...

“The vast majority of people, if they stay in the same plan, they will see rate increases in the single digits to high single digits,”

I wish it were only single digits. Mine was slated to go up 60%!!! I did shop around - other plans were even worse than that. Even going down from a silver to bronze plan, I'm paying $80 more a month for absolutely crappy coverage.

How can the Rats who voted for this monstrosity even show their faces in public?

Shop around for a better plan than the one you had and will now be more expensive for less coverage - and hopefully the doctor that will accept it is not in another state.

It's going to be great having a brand new policy with a new provider every single year. Will make healthcare like a big adventure every year, full of surprises and unexpected challenges.

Thanks Obama!

Here’s the scoop on why they want you to shop around instead of doing the automatic enrollment (& why the enrollment numbers are a joke ... again!):

From link: http://healthpolicyandmarket.blogspot.com/2014/11/how-many-people-have-enrolled-so-far-in.html

Let’s say George is now enrolled in Obamacare. He is happy to have subsidized and guaranteed health insurance for the first time. He was even happier to read in the media that the second year Obamacare rate increases would be small.

He was also happy to get a letter just before the Election Day telling him he will be automatically renewed in his current plan.

Then on December 6th George gets his January premium statement. He is paying a lot more! What happened? His insurance company phone lines are suddenly jammed. Seems like a lot of other people got a surprise.

Turns out all of those expert analysts and reporters writing stories about “average rate increases” never heard of the term loaded average––that’s when the plan that got 70% market share increased their rates 15% and the rest cut their rates or gave tiny increases.

That is happening a lot in Obamacare this renewal season.

This is all compounded by something called the baseline Silver Plan’s effect on subsidies. The second lowest cost Silver plan in any market determines what a person’s subsidy will be. Last year, that plan was probably the plan that got the biggest enrollment and also the plan with the biggest rate increase this year. So, it’s probably the plan George has.

In fact, you might recall a recent briefing paper by actuarial firm Milliman in which they pointed out that even a modest increase in premium by market leaders of 5% could lead to net after subsidy cost increases of 30% to near 100% for subsidized enrollees.

But because George’s plan is no longer the baseline plan, even though George is on subsidy and he is supposed to be shielded from any rate increase by the taxpayer, his premium is going up unless he changes to the insurance company that now holds the honors as having the second lowest cost Silver Plan.

*************************

Read on at the link (no, this is not my blog, nor am I affiliated with it in any way) to see what George does ... and why his enrollment is counted 3 times. As the saying goes, “oh what a tangled web we weave .....”

Okay, so they got millions of people’s insurance policies cancelled, forcing them to uproot their current relationships with their insurers and doctors, a year later that policy has become unaffordable because of premium increases, and their response is “hey, no prob, just completely disrupt your relationship again with these doctors and insurer and shop around for yet another new policy”.

Only a Prog would think that’s a solution.

"The administration is trying to preempt Obamacare sticker shock in 2015 by pleading with Americans to shop around in the marketplaces instead of automatically re-enrolling in the health plans they chose last year."

The American public has learned that the guidance provided by the obama administration is strictly given to ensure the well being of the obama administration and is most likely to ensure the average citizen will get the shaft in the end.

ObamaKare is 100% Democrat owned and hopefully they will get 100% of the blame. Smart Dems like Chuckie Schumer know it is only going to get worse and will alienate more and more middle class Democrat voters

I’m not shocked.

I’m glad to see Americans are paying more.

All through the Healthcare debate liberals, moderates, the ignorant kept lecturing me on how Obamacare was the end all be all.

They called me a “racist”, a “sexist”, a “homophobe”, a “corporate tool” who just wanted “poor people to die”.

Now it turns out I was right.

They can all **** off now.

Most who do this will look for lower premiums, only to find much higher deductibles.

TANSTAAFL.

The fact is the only way to reduce what you’ll pay under Obamacare is to 1) qualify for a heavy subsidy or Medicaid, or 2) shop for a policy that has significantly increased out-of-pocket minimums upwards of 5 figures.

The whole scheme was concocted to get healthcare for the uninsured, entitled among us that is heavily subsidized by workers and producers. It was further disguised so that the impacts would not be evident until after Obama was reelected and, hopefully, hidden through 2016.

In the end, ObamaCare would only be a good deal if you don’t work, don’t produce and live off the government. The rest of us will be taxed, gouged and means-tested until we are broke.

One of mine is canceling his insurance because he can’t afford it anymore. He will pay the penalty instead.

So, while illegals will get healthcare, mine flies without.

Go figure.

Anyone else remember a thread a few weeks back about how HHS has said they would start reenrolling people into lower cost plans if they chose the automatic reenroll option?

A cheaper plan = worse coverage. What a great idea.

How about Congress using the proper authority of the Commerce Clause and letting me buy insurance across state lines?

How about Congress using the proper authority of the Commerce Clause then having actual costs of service publicized?

How about Congress using the proper authority of the Commerce Clause allowing me to buy only catastrophic care and self-insure?

The solution is getting back to the Constitution, not further away from it.
