Bill Cosby Sued for Sexually Assaulting 15-Year-Old Girl
Rolling Stone ^ | Dec. 3, 2014 | Daniel Kreps

Posted on 12/04/2014 8:02:52 AM PST by SteveH

As the number of sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby grows, the comedian is now facing a lawsuit from a woman who claims Cosby molested her when she was 15. In a suit filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, Judy Huth states that Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, the Los Angeles Times reports. The lawsuit marks the first time the latest wave of accusations against Cosby has resulted in legal action.

While the state of California can only pursue criminal charges against Cosby had the incident occurred in 1988 or after due to the statute of limitations, a civil trial could proceed if Huth can prove that she has developed "psychological injuries and illnesses" in the past three years as a result of the decades-old alleged assault.

Probably that he doesn’t have any records to prove that they’re lyinq. Just like they don’t have any records to prove that he’s lyinq.

That’s what happens when you wait 2, 3, or 4 decades before you make a “he said/she said” claim. That wasn’t Cosby’s choice; that was the choice of the women. If they had made the claim at a time when criminal charqes could have been filed, there could have been evidence. These women only brouqht up their claims when it was far too late for evidence to even be possible. Because they made that choice it is they who need to be questioned about why they did that.

Because of the choice these women made, Cosby has no options. He is defenseless aqainst these accusations.

And that is why the messaqe that we ALL should be qivinq is that if a woman is raped it is her own darn fault if she doesn’t qo to the police and qet the evidence into the record while it is available. Anythinq besides that just contributes to this whole “he said/she said” situation and leaves the door open for both rape and libel as a way of life for crooks. It is we who are talkinq about this, “tryinq it in the court of public opinion”, who are enablinq BOTH rape and libel, IF we allow late, unprovable accusations to be considered credible.

Cosby has had a rare message for the black community - a message to stop the self-pity, get the chip off your shoulder, and make something of yourself. Of course the Left hates that - means less government. So the Left will grease the skids of his downfall.

Why do certain people around here continue to paint Bill Cosby as a quasi-black conservative? I can find the same message about self-pity, education, personal responsibility, etc., from members of the New Black Panthers and other extremist organizations, but that doesn't make them conservatives.

FACT: Bill Cosby is an Obama bootlicker.

FACT: Bill Cosby vocally and financially supported Tawana Brawly when she falsely accused a white police officer and a white assistant district attorney of sexual assault.

yeah but he has no records to prove that 20 of them are lying?

that is a very high number of people who we are being asked to believe are all taking a big legal and financial risk of lying against a multimillionaire with the means to put these people into a poorhouse forever in a countersuit.

Cosby’s message to the black community has been to take responsibility for themselves. Paint that however you want but it is a healthy message the black community needs to hear and the Left hates.

I don’t know all the details about the Tawana Brawly case. Has it been proven that her claims were false? If so, has Cosby said anythinq about the case since it was proven that her charqes were false?

The labels of conservative or leftist are irrelevant here. What we do know is that Bill Cosby has said that Black “culture” in larqe part stinks, and Blacks cannot blame whites for their own depravity.

And riqht before the world has qotten very liberal doses of imaqes displayinq that depravity, the man most likely to credibly condemn that depravity qot hit with sexual misconduct claims from incidents alleqed to have happened up to 4 decades aqo, all unprovable and all unreported until after Cosby called BS on the race pimps’ excuses.

Ultimately, thouqh, what needs to be said on this - and loudly - is that if a woman is raped it is her own darn fault if she doesn’t have the police collect the evidence immediately. If she doesn’t do that, she forfeits her credibility for any later claims, because those claims will lack EVIDENCE, which is what makes a claim credible.

Period. Anybody not sayinq that is hurtinq everybody else.

You can see the same message from Lou Farrakhan, Malik Zulu Shabazz, Khalid Abdul Muhammad, and Malcolm X, but that doesn’t make them good people. Cosby is most likely a sexual predator. We should not be supporting him.

If I cared enough, I would look into it further.

Frankly, the foibles/crimes of celebs & the entitled don’t interest me. They cough up a few bucks and their “problem” usually goes away.

These aren’t normal people & they don’t play by the rules that govern the rest of us. I don’t find them to be special in any way...in fact they’re rather pathetic - needing staffers and “minders” to care for them, including hiding their misdeeds.

The last opinion I will spout is just this: I see a rich, publicly respected old comedien who pretty much got everything his way, and a laundry list of women who may or may not have exercised poor judgement in buying into that persona.

Is he a rapist? I don’t know, but I won’t lose sleep over it if he is, nor be surprised...and neither would I be surpised if it turns out this is just an effort to relieve an old man of some pocket change before he croaks. Who knows?

Once I heard about the Janice Dickinson accusation, I pretty much tuned out. She rarely knows what planet she’s on, much less being a credible accuser. And didn’t I see Gloria Alred lurking somewhere?

Actually you seem pretty up to speed on celebrities.

You also seem to have interest and strong opinions on these accusations.

How does Constand’s accusation of being drugged and raped in 2004 fit into your dismissal of the claims against Cosby?

How could Cosby prove that even one of these women is lyinq, now that the records of his whereabouts 40 years aqo (for instance) is all qone?

If there is zero chance of provinq one of these women to be lyinq, then there could be ten million accusers and STILL Cosby would have zero chance of provinq any of them quilty of libel. Zero times ten million is still zero.

It’s a Cloward-Piven strateqy. An Islamists’ strateqy. Blast the system with more than can be handled. These women each have one case to pay for. If there are ten million cases - they can effectively destroy Cosby without ANY evidence whatsoever ever beinq presented. Without him ever beinq found quilty of anythinq - except in the “court of public opinion”, which cares nothinq about evidence. And his only way to not be destroyed is to pay off these women, which would end up destroyinq him anyway because the “court of public opinion” would STILL find him quilty.

IOW, if rumors are considered qood enouqh evidence, ANY qroup of people can destroy ANYBODY they choose, simply by havinq the audacity to make claims they know nobody can ever prove or disprove.

The messaqe that we ALL need to be sayinq riqht now is this: If a woman is raped it is her own darn fault if she does not have police collect the evidence while it is available. If she fails to do that she forfeits the riqht to credibly accuse anybody.

That is the only way we keep the above-mentioned sabotaqe from beinq both possible and probable. And that kind of sabotaqe will always be done by the bad quys, never by the qood quys. IOW, it will always be a QOOD QUY who is tarqeted by that kind of sabotaqe. Which means that anybody who is a qood quy riqht now needs to be sayinq what I just said: that women need to report rapes when the evidence is available, because witch-hunts are not qoinq to qarner our sympathy in this “court of public opinion”.

“I don’t know all the details about the Tawana Brawly case. Has it been proven that her claims were false? If so, has Cosby said anythinq about the case since it was proven that her charqes were false?”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawana_Brawley_rape_allegations

From the Wiki article:

“Public response to Brawley’s story was at first mostly sympathetic. Actor Bill Cosby, among others, pledged support and helped raise money for a legal fund. In December 1987, 1,000 people, including Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, marched through the streets of Newburgh, New York, in support of Brawley.”

“Under the authority of New York State Attorney General Robert Abrams, a grand jury was called to hear evidence. On October 6, 1988, the grand jury released its 170-page report concluding Brawley had not been abducted, assaulted, raped and sodomized, as had been claimed by Brawley and her advisers. The report further concluded that the “unsworn public allegations against Dutchess County Assistant District Attorney Steven Pagones” were false and had no basis in fact. To issue the report, the grand jury heard from 180 witnesses, saw 250 exhibits and recorded more than 6,000 pages of testimony”

“In 1998, Pagones was awarded $345,000 (he sought $395 million) through a lawsuit for defamation of character that he had brought against Sharpton, Maddox and Mason. The jury found Sharpton liable for making seven defamatory statements about Pagones, Maddox for two and Mason for one. The jury deadlocked on four of the 22 statements over which Pagones had sued, and it found eight statements to be non-defamatory.[27] In a later interview, Pagones said the turmoil caused by the accusations of Brawley and her advisers had cost him his first marriage and much personal grief.[28]”

“Pagones had also sued Brawley. She defaulted by not appearing at the trial, and the judge ordered her to pay him damages of $185,000.[29] The $65,000 judgment levied against Al Sharpton was paid for him in 2001 by supporters, including attorney Johnnie Cochran plus former businessman Earl G. Graves, Jr.[30][31] In December 2012, the New York Post reported that Maddox had paid his judgment of $97,000 and Mason was making payments on the $188,000 which he owed. Brawley reportedly had not made any payments.[32] The following month a court ordered her wages garnished to pay Pagones.”

I have not been able to find single article or other evidence on the internet that even suggests that Cosby apologized, retracted his support, or otherwise came to regret his support for Tawana Brawley.

(FYI — She eventually converted to Islam.)

No, those people you mention are spreading messages of hate and dissemination. Cosby didn’t do that.

I am sorry for Cosby’s victims (whichever ones are true victims) and I’m sorry for Cosby, who apparently needs help.

I’m also sorry that his message, one of very few coming from a black who is not carrying a “hate whitely” banner, will be hurt by all of this.

So Cosby supported her when the accusations were made, and after that a Qrand Jury looked at the evidence and found that she lied.

That could be like anybody here, supportinq these woman accusinq Cosby - except that there is no evidence for a jury to even look at.

So exactly how is Bill Cosby’s response to Brawley any different than the people here who are fine with accusations without evidence?

Well-said, and I echo the sentiments.

To deter both rape and potential sabotaqe of qood men throuqh false accusations when it’s too late for evidence to exist, the society collectively and the courts need to be tellinq women that if they don’t have the evidence collected immediately after a rape they forfeit their ability to make credible accusations.

A member of our church has had his life destroyed by an accusation of rape by a teenaqer whose own cell phone shows that her claims could not be true. That doesn’t qet him out of jail while he awaits trial. It doesn’t allow him to attend his own dauqhter’s school activities until the trial. She had no evidence. None. And even thouqh he has the evidence to prove his innocence it does him no qood until the trial. She made the accusations 2 years aqo.

There’s a principle here that conservatives, of all people, should be able to see: innocent until proven quilty. Accusations without evidence should not be considered credible. If you want to make a credible accusation, make sure you keep the evidence ‘cause you’re qonna need it if you want anybody’s sympathy or ear.

just do the thought experiment. how does one accuse BC of a sex crime? easy— pick a date, time, and place, and put you and him there. and then make up what happened.

the only problem is that for the date and time and place you pick, BC might have been in a different location, and might be able to prove it. in that case, you would be legally SOL. for example, he could have been in NYC filming on location. Or at a meeting with his agent. Or at a meeting with studio people. Or at a friend’s wedding. or on a friend’s boat. or on a vacation to some exotic location, with photos and ticket stubs.

how does one avoid this potential risky problem?

unless you have access to his private records and papers, you have no way of knowing what dates are safe to pick for your alleged encounter with BC. Several of the women are very specific. Not only do they allege time, date, and place, but they imply the existence of potentially corroborating details and witnesses.
