FERGUSON, Mo. – The mayor of Ferguson, Missouri, says police Officer Darren Wilson will not receive a severance package as part of his resignation from the police force. Mayor James Knowles said Sunday that the St. Louis suburb and Wilson have severed their ties and that Wilson won't receive any further pay or benefits following his resignation Saturday. Wilson's lawyer says Wilson resigned because threats had been made against other officers and the department because of his continued employment. A grand jury on Monday decided not to indict Wilson for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown during an August confrontation, sparking widespread demonstrations.

He should run for Governor.

He'd win.

But he could have stuck around and filed stress disability. Also this is not a normal situation or I would agree with you.

That fat pig's parent(s) and/or Wilson's lawyers will wind up with every penny once the civil suit is settled/adjudicated.

I don’t know if I believe this or not. I also read a few weeks ago, that Wilson’s attorneys were trying to settle a financial agreement and in which he would offer to step down. The police chief said that he could come back to work if Wilson so decided. I think the officials made Darrin and family a offer and he decided to do what he thought is best for his fellow officers. He has to know, someone is trying to get him. Maybe, he should team up with Seal O’ Neill and stay low just for his safety. I sure don’t like to see any of this happening for many reasons. One is that this sends such a powerful message that the thugs can intimidate to get their way. Next, seeing more police officers and departments being politically victimized by the progressives. Welcome, to Free Republic.

If he’s smart, he’ll take the money and move to another country. Do private security somewhere warm.

If I were Wilson, I’d dump my assets and flee to some tropical island. Let the Browns try to collect money damages.

No problem with no severance. He quit after all. But I think the city should own his lawyer fees and his shrink fees until after the civil suits are concluded.

If he is sue by the Brown family, he will need to countersue. Use Shawn Parcell’s autopsy report as evidence.

Exactly what I was going to post. I wonder what can be worked out and who can work it out. Anything the city or state pays out can be traced, one would think. Perhaps a private party stepped in to insure Wilson's financial survival. Or an insurance company? Do police forces carry such insurance?

We'd love to have Wilson in the Pacific Northwest. Mark Fuhrman ended up in North Idaho after O.J.…perhaps he's still there, not sure.

He will definitely be sued. No question in my mind about that. How it ends up I have big questions. Not hard to find 6 stupid Americans.

The city isn’t going to be able to distance themselves from Wilson right away. They will have to represent him through the federal case along with his attorneys. Most of his funds will be going for legal costs. Brown’s family, along with the media (and those who hate all cops) would love to turn the heat on Wilson and what better why than to punish him financially. You can bet Brown’s family wants money for officer using unnecessary force (they are already using those words) Follow the money to the city’s bank.

“How many others will now leave after seeing the poor treatment of Officer Wilson?”

They won’t leave (the pay and benefits are too good, especially in the “new normal” economy); they’ll simply do what cops here in the northeast do - file accident reports. Our urban crime is so bad because law enforcement in black areas has for all intents and purposes completely ended. There are incidents when the raiders go off the welfare reservations; otherwise, they can just kill each other and nobody cares.

Thanks Christie. I agree with you completely (”...this sends such a powerful message that the thugs can intimidate to get their way”). I have to wonder how many of the people who burned down businesses in Ferguson...someone’s dream of a lifetime...really CARED about Brown or even KNEW him. To me, he seems like nothing more than a catalyst, an excuse to pop the cork on behavior that has been there all along, just waiting for any excuse to erupt. And the fact of the matter is that if Brown had simply allowed Officer Wilson to do his job, he’d be alive today. To make Officer Wilson a sacrificial lamb in the midst of this is just wrong, and so many people refuse to see it that way. The media just keeps fanning the flames and sticking microphones in the faces of people who want to take, and destroy, and disrupt.

How many others will now leave after seeing the poor treatment of Officer Wilson?

And how many who don't leave will just drive in the other direction when another criminal like Michael Brown bullies and steals from the locals?

Why get involved when you know your own officials will turn their back on you and pander to the criminals?

The state and local officials abandoned Wilson to suck up to the mongrels and in return the mongrels burned and looted the town.

If there was any honor on the part of the officials they would have found a way to make sure Wilson had a different job where he was out of the line of fire.

But they are not honorable men.

Especially their incompetent wimp of a governor.

I certainly hope this is the case. Wilson should also be going after the Missouri governor, democrat, for prejudging him as guilty, and the instate and out of state agitators who incited the riots. Time to show all concerned that Darren Wilson’s life matters.
