".....Ezaldein began dating Dee in August 2012 after meeting him through her older sister's roommate, they said. Dee physically abused and beat the woman throughout the relationship, and in December 2013, threatened her by inserting a handgun into her mouth, the victim's family said. The incident resulted in a hospital visit and the victim ending the relationship.
In the year since, Dee had harassed both the woman and her family members by making threatening calls to her father and siblings, family members said. The victim changed her number three times as a result, they said.
Ezaldein also tried to request an order of protection but backed out of the request when Dee threatened to kill himself if she went through with it, family members said. Relatives said the woman was also hesitant to report abuse or harassment because Dee's parents were police officers....."

Hed call and threaten to hurt or kill himself, forcing Ezaldein to change her phone number several times, she said.
He called the entire family, consistently texting, the sister said. He Googled my entire family.
Dee went as far as attempting to file a restraining order against Ezaldeins sister, court records show. The next day, the sister responded in kind. But Cook County judges denied both petitions.
Family members remembered Ezaldein, who grew up in Florida, as a bright young woman who graduated from a Fort Lauderdale high school at the age of 16.
She received a scholarship from a foundation in South Florida because she had the most community service hours of her entire graduating class, said Carol Zeber, of the group Quota International of Fort Lauderdale....."

Questions (not that it should matter but apparently it does these days):
What is the race of the victim, her family?
What is the race of the shooter, his police parents?
Why wasn't a protective order put in place?
Just asking in case anyone can find out this information.
okay, here’s my take.
marcus dee - black man. keywords “marcus” and “dee”.
nadia ezaldien - white woman.
she did not file for protection b/c she feared something would happen to her b/c his family had cops in them and she believed him when he said he’d kill himself if she filed.
personally i’d have filed and learned if he was also a liar or a chickensh1t.
RIP.
Should have kept going and pursued the order, anyway.
Sad.
If "Nada" Ezaldein is the Nadia Ezaldein that was shot, here is more.
If the woman in those pictures is the victim and the shooter is black, we again have black on black crime (with the added knowledge that Cook County judges and the shooter's police parents did nothing to stop him - the killer).
But will the MSM mention Chicago's shooting stats, black on black crime, that BOTH of the shooter's parents are police officers, or will they stay focused on Ferguson and condem a white police officer who was forced by a black criminal to protect his own life?
Her web page.

UK guardian and Chicago Sun Times report she was a seasonal part time worker at Nordtrom (michigan Ave) in Chicago and a law student at the University of Chicago.
Shot on her 22nd birthday, while at work at Nordstrum.
Interesting name. Somewhat unique.
Perhaps Portuguese/Baroque derived from Zaldi for horse or load-bearer.
The girl is white...likely at least Jewish daddy given surname
She was damned nice looking too
Her killer is said by inflammatory blogs to be of the negro race but those sites are of course pretty unreliable
Drive by media silent on race of shooter which often means minority
Tragic regardless....
There is a recent fashion blog of her in her put together fairly budget fashion statement....she looked happy with herself...just a kid...poignant...my wife and daughters are just like she was about clothes
From her website:
“Actually if youre curious, my mom is from India and my dad is from Sudan. Both of my parents come from countries with rich cultures blended with Middle Eastern influences and so I was given an Arabic name that symbolizes the morning dew. “
I was wrong...post 11 explains
I cannot find origin of her surname anywhere
And its both a surname and proper name
A Nada Ezaldein
followed
https://www.linkedin.com/in/najahez
who could be a sister (relation)
Still not sure if this is the same girl. It would be helpful if the media posted a picture of the victim and the shooter.
“....I cannot find origin of her surname anywhere - And its both a surname and proper name...”
I had the same result, though it does seem to be Middle Eastern.
Thanks for giving it a try - thanks to all who took a stab at it.

Just saw your post. I thought she looked Indian (if this is the Nadia Ezaldein from Chicago) in the large close up picture at this site.

Middle Eastern is what her name indicates. I see her silly fashionista? website
It looks like politics trumps everything.
I wonder whose gun he used to kill her.
By all means, let’s get their races straightened out, because that’s what important here.
“By all means, lets get their races straightened out, because thats what important here.”
We’ve been told by black racists that race is important...every time a white person kills someone. So, apparently it is not racist to talk about the race of the victims and perps. Besides, being white, we’re told we are racists no matter what we do; “Being white is racists.”
Sinking to the level of the race baiters is not a virtue.
