Walmart Black Friday Protests Hit Major Cities With Calls For '$15 And Full Time'

WASHINGTON -- Dirk Rasmussen had Friday off and could have slept in if he wanted to. Instead, the Maryland resident and Teamster rose early and drove to downtown Washington, eager to join a post-Thanksgiving protest against Walmart.

"Our local [union] president encouraged us to take part," said Rasmussen, 58, who works in a lumber and building-supply warehouse. "I raised eight children on a Teamsters benefit package and Teamsters wage. I'm a firm believer in collective bargaining, and I'm very concerned about the security of this next generation."

Black Friday may be most famous for doorbuster shopping deals, but among progressives it's becoming a regular holiday for labor demonstrations. Friday marked the third consecutive year of scattered but highly visible protests against Walmart. Demonstrators, along with an unknown number of Walmart strikers, are calling for better pay and scheduling practices from the world's largest retailer....

Hey Walmart employees, If you want higher wages, call me. I will get outta bed and stand up for a wage increase. Thing is, I won’t take a dime of that wage increase and put in in my pocket. You get to keep all that the government doesn’t take. Some crap ass union boss won’t be taking your hard earned dollars to enrich himself and the corrupt democrat party.

“Walmart Black Friday Protests Hit Major Cities With Calls For ‘$15 And Full Time’”

More hyperbole and lies from the insects at Huffington Post.

What cities? Philadelphia and Atlanta?

Whoopee! Two cities. America has 30,000 incorporated towns and cities.

The headline should read: Union Communists Fail Completely in Effort to Boycott Walmart

They’re just grumpy.
The Dems p*ssed away the chance to pass union “card check” when they spent all their time on Obamacare.

The unionistas cannot be bothered with FACTS. They just FEEL everyone is entitled to a ‘living’ wage.

Snark aside, these are jobs where people develop a work ethic and then move on. A co-worker’s son started at a fast-food restaurant and is now a manager. He’s going to college and the company pays a few thousand for his college education each year. Even he doesn’t make the demanded for $15.00/hr. Grief! If they do not like their current place of employ, find another job and move on.

“The Dems p*ssed away the chance to pass union “card check” when they spent all their time on Obamacare.”

Yes, sir. And while the Union apes were spending time on fascist healthcare, Gov. Walker in Wisconsin killed them - in three successive elections.

We can learn much from that.

Whenever the Huffington Post or any other publication uses the word “progressives” to describe the rioting and/or protesting rabble”, just substitute the word “Marxist” for it and things will become very clear.

The worker protesters are not Marxists. However, they are what WEB DuBois called the “cannonfodder for the Communist Party USA) (1934, possibly in The Liberator publication).

It is the organizers who are the Marxists of the SEIU, UAW, UNITE, etc. And all they bring to the scene is trouble and future unemployment for those who need jobs the most.

“”driving an 18 wheel 30 ton monster across the country””

I don’t believe truck drivers are the only members of the Teamsters Union.

SunTrust Bank outsources its small business financial statement spreading and analysis to India. Of course, it takes just as long to send the financials off and then fix the spreads and analyses when they come back as it would for an American to do the work him- or her-self.

One thing I noticed about the checkouts at Costco is that it seemed like every third person screwed something up so the scanner would lock up, the flashing light would go on, and some employee would have to come and fix things. I imagine it was almost as resource intensive as a regular checkout line was.

That's the way it is when I do that (very infrequently). The machine tries to talk me through it and I can't keep up and then I look at the attendant and shrug. I don't like self-checkout. Maybe it's just 'cuz I'm old. I might like it better if the store would offer a small rebate for using self-checkout - I mean if they're saving some by not having an hourly employee wait on me, I think I should get a little of that.

I love the self checkouts because I never get behind some idiot that doesn’t have enough money on their EBT card and has to remove items or the other idiot that has to separate their piles into EBT allowed, EBT not allowed, Mom’s stuff, price check stuff because tags were removed, etc.

I am making a good living installing those automated systems in Amazon. They are designed to overcome high employee turnover and allow very quick training.

I mention this to point out that for every employee demanding management wages for rote labor positions, management is working hard to enable their replacement with employees thankful for a good job with fair wages.

Management is always looking for employees that are willing to learn and grow into management positions, and earn management wages. As shopping cycles ebb and flow with the seasons, so does the work force.

Who would you rehire or move up to full-time? My guess it’s not the Gibsmedats missing days in their schedules.

This problem is self correcting,

Of course, this Rent A Mob wasn’t paid anything near $15/hour, or even half of that.

Nope, the breach was on all their card readers. The idiots ordered card reader units that ran on Windows because they didn’t want to pay VeriFone for their units and they wanted a custom interface. Then they didn’t lock down the Windows based units or even bother auditing what their contractors put on them prior to shipping.
