Salon: 'Stop Eating Thanksgiving Turkey!'

Are you about to enjoy your Thanksgiving turkey? Well, Salon writer Lindsay Abrams wants you to stop. Stop right now! Not content to give liberal ideology a rest even on this holiday, Abrams attempts to guilt trip her readers into giving up turkey for Thanksgiving.

Her arguments against turkey are pretty much what we've heard before. That modern Thanksgiving turkeys are not natural in that they are too fat to fly or breed. Also we get hit with guilt trips about their living conditions. Of course, such turkeys would never even exist in the first place if they were not so ideal for the Thanksgiving table in terms of weight and cost. So here is Abrams doing her to dissuade us from enjoying turkey today:

I like a lot of the sides. Stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce. But you can have those all the time, and some of the ones that only seem to get whipped out for the holidays (green bean casserole I’m looking at you) there’s a good reason why they aren’t year round food.

Here’s a quote we should hear more often: “As God as my witness, I thought Liberals could fly.”

I have to agree with no Turkey, clearly Turkey is an inferior bird when compared to the Chicken. The Chicken is juicier and tastier! : )

A splendid sandwich filler if ever there was one!

It is! I put it in a pita or sometimes just have it as a side (with extra pepper on top). We have a family member who takes the bones and does turkey soup every year.

Maybe you should consider cooking a turkey in La Caja China. An enclosed system that PRESERVES the juices. Here is a VIDEO of someone cooking THREE turkeys in La Caja China on Thanksgiving.

I buy 2-3 turkeys every season when they go on sale. .54 cents a pound is cheap eating any time of the year.

Besides. My little Yorkie is on a low-fat diet, so I cook a turkey or a breast about once a month. Add a few taters and carrots from the garden, and I’m feeding him for about 6-7 bucks a month.

And he really really loves it!

Arepas are better than pita. The outside is thicker so if you pour in gravy it doesn’t drip out.

Poor liberals. They are terminally unhappy. Most of them can’t even look forward to going to heaven when they die since they don’t believe in that either. Sad. Sad Sad.

If we knew the turkeys were complaining that might be another story. But people are reading their own ideas into what the turkeys want.

Well, I can’t speak for everyone, but in my family this seems to be the year of dietary changes.

I went low-carb about two years ago. My sister started a “Whole 30’ detox a couple of weeks ago, and has a son and daughter-in-law who’ve followed suit.

So this Thanksgiving, it’s going to be a low-carb, gluten and dairy free dinner.

But turkey is very much on the table.

I’m bringing garlic mashed cauliflower.
