Defense Secretary pick will be a challenge for Obama
Fox News ^ | Published November 26, 2014 | Fox News

The Defense Secretary job opening is emerging as a thanks-but-no-thanks opportunity, as some of the top potential prospects have already said they’re not interested in the job.

Within minutes of reports Monday that Secretary Chuck Hagel would resign, the names of Michele Flournoy and Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed emerged as top prospects.

But each made clear by the end of the day that they didn’t want the coveted but high-wire, Cabinet-level post.

The new secretary would indeed step into a difficult and complicated world, with the emergence of the deadly and unpredictable militant group Islamic State, amid Defense Department cuts.

“There’s no question a lot is going on around the world and at the Pentagon,” department spokesman Adm. John Kirby told Fox News on Tuesday.

In addition, there have already been three defense secretaries in Obama’s first six years. And with his administration ending in 2016, the incoming secretary isn’t assured much job security.

Clark is too tight with the Clintons. He also has some Posse Comitatus issues with the Branch Dividians.

Question for incoming Defense Secretary Designate:

"President Obama has said that the vast majority of Americans have no right demand border security, because their ancestors once came in without permission themselves.

"Given this sentiment, can you explain to this committee why America should maintain a Department of Defense, the Department which you have been nominated to operate and oversee?

"Indeed, how can America claim the right to possess any sort of military apparatus whatsoever, under the reasoning of your Commander in Chief?"

He needs a retired General with a big head. A figure head for the next 2 years.
It would be better for us if he picked a Rat Senator..just to get rid of one long serving incumbent.

“My guess, Wesley Clark.”

Was just going to write that.

I will go with AF Major General Patricia Rose. She still is active, but that could change fast.

I vote for Jon Gruber. He can Gruberize the country’s defense the way he did for healthcare.

After all, Gruber represents the “best and the brightest”, just like Robert McNamara did for the Viet Nam war.

Congress should hold up and NOT APPROVE any nominee Obama puts forward . Force Hagel to stay on until the new Congress has even more power to decide . Something is up and the Republicans need to do all they can to defeat Obama’s maneuvers . It’s not like we do not have a Sec Def , we do , his name is Chuck Hagel , apparently a man who finally found his balls , amidst the harpie tag team of Jarrett and Rice . KEEP HAGEL THERE .

“Picking his nose is a challenge.”
That is exactly what I thought when I first read the headline.

It won’t happen for a while. They still have Holder to replace. The Zero really screwed himself with this amnesty. All efforts for anything else will take a back seat.

I think Obama himself is toxic which may be the problem. I can’t imagine it looking good on anyone’s resume.

Only if he has to resign his senate seat and pledges not to run again in 2016.

The added benefit. He and Valerie Jarrett would probably tear one another to pieces within a month.
