Escalation 101: USA To Deploy 150 Tanks Near Russian Border
MINA ^ | November 26, 2014

The US Army plans to deploy about 150 tanks and armoured vehicles to NATO countries next year and some of the heavy armour may be stationed in Eastern Europe, a top American general said on Tuesday.

The move is part of a US effort dubbed Operaton Atlantic Resolve in the Baltic states and Poland to reassure allies anxious about a 'resurgent Russia', with American troops deploying for several months at a time to conduct joint exercises.

Nearly 50 armoured vehicles are already in place and another 100 M1 Abrams tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles will be "pre-positioned" in Germany and possibly elsewhere for the US troops conducting drills with NATO partners, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges said in a phone interview from Estonia.

Isn’t it funny? FReepers make fun of MSNBC all day long and into the night. But with regard to Russia, we need “perspective.”

Are you now saying Russians must be appeased because they believe this bullshit? Some sort of thing similar to Muslim outreach program that recognizes and sympathizes with their desire for restoration of the lost caliphate and destruction of the Western civilization?

No, obviously he was not saying that at all. You know it too, and I read his comment before it was removed. He quoted you and then simply asked you 'What your 'truth' (ie 'view of truth') was. But you had his comment removed!

Are you saying he should only toe the line with your 'program and sympathies', whatever they may be?

For a very long time, the USA, symbolically, has represented democracy and freedom of speech, appreciating different view points in discussions. That's what the U.S. administrations claim to export to other countries, not censorship of speech due to harmless difference of opinion. Otherwise, no reason whatsoever to take the moral high ground.

Don't bother, I'm sure I won't get a coherent reply from you given your previous posts on here, and you may just have my comment removed too.

Of course you need 'perspective' on Russia. Russia is not MSNBC - that's American driven. Those who can give perspective on Russia, first and foremost, are the Russians.

Correct, but Russians don’t post here. The Kremlin does.

Most Russians, ordinary ones don’t, some do. And, honestly, Kremlin has other things to do than post here regularly; if Kremlin type did you wouldn’t know about them. They aren’t that stupid.

In my more than a decade here, I’ve only seen two or three posters have the balls to admit they’re Russian. The rest are pussies, or parrot the Kremlin line (or say “perspective” is needed).

Not a fair question during the Holidays. Most carriers are in their home port so the crews can be with family. The number that can be deployed is at a high over the last 4 years.

The Vinson is fresh from a three year overhaul. Five of the others are all sea worthy and have air assigned.

If they admit they are Russians and say "perspective" is needed, why not just hear the 'perspective'? People can judge for themselves. And, sometimes perspective is in fact needed, regardless of Russia.

For those Russians whose English is not fluent it may also be a matter of misunderstanding or not communicating well enough. That can be the case with many other nationalities, who aren't in USA or an English speaking country.

But I wager the ones who get by easily and undetected are not the ones who we notice or stand out.

That is the source I looked at yesterday, and it showed all kinds of recent deployments.

appalachian_dweller’s question was irrelevant anyway, if you notice she ignored post 73.

She was posting so much nonsense that it became silly.
