HOW THE GOP SHOULD REACT TO OBAMA EXEC ORDERS

Take him to court.

That’s what the Republicans in Congress should do about Barack Obama’s executive actions on illegal immigration.

Some member of the House or Senate should file suit in federal court seeking an injunction on the grounds that the actions are a clear violation of the Constitution, which authorizes the Congress to establish a “uniform rule of naturalization.”

The Constitution gives matters of immigration to the Congress – the people’s branch of government – and a president is violating the Constitution when he abrogates a congressional action on immigration.

It’s really very simple.

And it’s not about illegal aliens or America’s immigrant heritage, it’s about the Constitution and the separation of powers.

The president may have decided he supersedes the Constitution, but the courts may not agree.

So let them decide.

And don’t get drawn into a political pissing match. Don’t shut down the government, don’t stonewall nominees, don’t do anything other than lay out the error of the president’s actions and take it to court.

Let the Constitution heal itself. When one branch becomes disproportionately powerful, the Constitution uses a series of checks and balances to let the other branches rein it in. In this situation, the executive branch has taken unto itself a power the Constitution denies it, at the expense of the legislative branch. So we ask the third branch – the courts – to determine what’s right.

And I ask the Republicans to get about governing.

When the new Congress convenes in January, the Republicans should race through a nation-changing legislative agenda. They should put together something akin to the Contract With America – a specific list of laws and changes – and pass it all, rapid fire, while working hard to explain to the nation the advisability of its various principles.

Maybe the president will sign, maybe the president will veto.

That’s up to him.

Laying forth a vision for the country is up to the Republicans.

And near the top of that list, maybe the first piece, should be immigration reform.

Not because of Obama, but in spite of Obama.

What he has pretended to do, the Republican Congress must actually do.

Because it turns out that the “immigration reform” of Obama’s executive actions is a political stunt which doesn’t truly help anyone and which leaves the worst problems completely unaddressed.

All Obama did was create a piece of paper that promises not to deport a small subset of illegal aliens who, under current practice, weren’t getting deported anyway. He has failed to deliver for immigration advocates, and he has failed to deliver for America.

The Dream Act students – arguably the most sympathetic of all involved in this issue – got nothing. Legal immigrants got nothing. Folks wishing to come here legally, who now face great difficulty and expense, got nothing. Employers and foreigners hoping for a functioning guest-worker program got nothing.

All we got was a lecture on the virtues of immigration from a president whose administration has essentially shut down all immigration from Europe – and whose program for 5 million illegals will serve almost no Africans and Asians.

Like most things in his presidency, Obama has effed this up. Whether driven by arrogant incompetence, or psychological dysfunction springing from his chaotic upbringing, or a purposeful desire to wreck the nation, Obama has effed this up.

And the Republicans should show the path back.

Not by fiery speeches of denunciation, but by a reasoned and well-explained legislative agenda.

The president who ignored the hopes of illegal aliens for six years didn’t finally issue his executive actions for them, he did so as a political trick. He wants to draw the Republicans into a fight.

All he knows as political rhetoric is hateful denunciation of people who disagree with him. It is hard to find a speech he’s given that isn’t at least in part bitter condemnation of people whose crime is holding a contrary opinion.

So ignore him and his invective.

Let him go from union rally to union rally, shouting the “Heil Hitlers” of the modern day.

The people have entrusted the Congress to the Republicans. More Republicans hold legislative office in this country today than at any time in its history. The recent election put more Republicans in Congress than at any time since 1946.

There’s a reason for that.

And a purpose.

And the purpose is to fix America.

It doesn’t matter what he’ll sign or what he won’t. It matters what America needs.

The people didn’t vote for a pissing match, they voted for a solution. It’s become evident governing is beyond this man’s ability or interest. It’s become evident the people don’t trust him.

It’s become evident that if the Republicans don’t save the country, it won’t get saved.

So they must wisely avoid the sideshow distraction of Obama’s executive actions. They are unconstitutional on their face, and they do very little, they are only meant to draw a response.

So don’t give it to him.

Instead, take up the things that really matter for this country, the things at the top of the priority list. Get them done. Get solutions offered. Get solutions passed.

And if he won’t sign them, in two years we can elect somebody who will.

The people elected the Republicans to lead.

The president may have decided he supersedes the Constitution, but the courts may not agree. There are myriad left wing jurists in this country. In fact its getting harder and harder to find those who are not smitten with the Marxist ideology. The court of choice must be made carefully.

Like with obamacare? That is all I heard was how the Supreme Court will overturn it when the case reaches the Supreme Court. And what happened when it reached the Supreme court?

Obama owns the courts. Oh, they may throw a little something small from time to time to keep the sheep pacified, but what Obama wants, he gets.

The GOP House and Senate should:

1. Rescind the War Powers Act to curtail Obama’s insane deployment of troops.

2. Recall all US Forces from ME and Africa.

3. Declare war on Mexico, the list of casus belli is both long and long standing.

4. Shut down Immigration Central and South American sections for duration.

5. Declare all illegal aliens persona non grata.

Provides for immediate corraling and repatriation of all undocumented aliens and members of Mecha, LaRaza, and gang members as seditous foreigners.

Require all visa holders to register with local PD. All with expired visas must leave US within 14 days or be subject to imprisonment.

All “anchor babies” whose parents or guardians are illegal aliens to be take into temporary custody at regional FEMA camps prior to repatriation to their families abroad..

And then I woke up.

The first thing they should do is censure him and then resist and fight in any way they can. (wishful thinking of course).

You vote with us or we defund everything in your district for the next 2 years.

I actually think the repubs should do nothing re the executive action...

Instead... pass a bill dealing only with closing and protecting the border...nothing else.
Let the pres veto it first...then sit back and watch what hits the fan.

What Republicans should do.

Take back every bill that is sitting on Reid’s desk, break every bill out into single pieces of legislation, no more than a couple of pages long, put it on their web site for all to read, and send them to Obama for signing.

Start with a close the border bill. In the bill stipulate that there will be no further action on immigration until this bill is signed, funded and executed through completion. Also add that this bill will replace present laws on the books and if not signed, laws on the books will be enforced immediately.

Let obama veto that.

Here’s what the Republicans should do:

A) CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS:

1) Sue Obama in court, YESTERDAY! He not only created new law, but that new law is in direct contradiction to actual, Constitutionally-created law...namely, he authorized the issuance of work permits to those not legally-permitted to work here. The only people legally-permitted to work are citizens, permanent residents and certain visa holders. Someone here illegally CANNOT work here legally, and so his order clearly creates new law.

2) Pass a funding bill now that expires in the early part of the year. Once the Republicans are completely in charge of the Congress, pass a budget that specifically prohibits funds for the issuance of SSNs, work permits, etc. for anyone not otherwise entitled to one prior to Obama’s EO.

3) The national GOP, the Congressional, House and Senate campaign committees should air, nationwide and on a regular basis, TV, radio and internet commercials of 30 seconds to 1 minutes, involving testimony from real people about how:

a) They immigrated legally at a cost of $X, had to wait X years, etc., and that it is not fair that all of these other folks get to break the law.

b) They are STILL waiting for a legal visa in Shitholia, because they are doing things the right way, and don’t understand how the great USA can allow criminals and line-cutters to do this.

c) Their jobs were taken away by an illegal, or their wages suppressed because of large numbers of illegals.

d) They were victimized by illegals - via theft, drunk driving, their kids were roughed-up in school, etc.

e) They witnessed illegals voting.

f) Whatever other things that they can think of.

B) STATE-LEVEL Republicans:

1) Pass strict voter-ID laws.
2) Require their respective Secretaries of State or Registrars of Elections (or whatever) to comb through the voter rolls EACH YEAR, prior to primaries AND prior to the General Election, to weed out those not entitled to vote in that particular jurisdiction.
3) Pass new, harsher penalties for anyone who votes when not entitled to do so - AND ENFORCE IT. This probably means providing funds for at least a few dozen prisoners in each state. Not only prison, but PERMANENT revocation of the franchise for committing voter fraud, with communication to all other states of said conviction.

Obama wants new voters...well, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. Let him take all the heat for the unconstitutional EO, while not reaping the benefits (nor allowing the rest of the Dems to do so, either).a

Yes and he will be out of office and the damage will be done before the courts take action.

Boehner and McConnell are in their leadership roles because they have been elected by their congressional members, more than once, to their positions. Beats me why this is the case, but there it is. As to this immigration stunt of the regime pretending to do something new for the illegals, my thinking is that the big lie is the deceit that covers the fact that the illegals in question are getting along just fine on all of the benefits which they are already getting. Does anybody believe they have been hanging around for years with no food stamps, health care, education, family subsidies for childcare and related benefits? Obama has got the immigration conversation going in a meaningless direction while he now gets on with making far more progress with a menu of other power plays.

The Republicans are the only political body left to reverse course and if their leadership does not understand the absolute necessity for them to get, and keep, close contact with their grassroots base they will not survive as a viable party. I am hoping we got enough good Americans elected this year to turn the tide back to a patriotic America.

I'm tired of this "take him to court" BS.

That's not what the Constitution calls out as remedy.

The Court is the House of Reps and the Jury is the US Senate.

that is the ONLY mechanism the Constitution allows.
