How the thing ever got reversed in the first place is what I’d like to know.

Clever piece of work by the anti-religion bigots, though, don't you think? Repeat a lie often enough...

If we do not defend our rights, we lose them.

If the Republican congress refuses to defend against Obama trampling on the rule of law, we lose it.

Amendment I places a restriction on Congress only.

The bill of rights pertains to the federal government only.

Actually, Thanksgiving is more at risk. It is a national day of prayer proclaimed every year by the President.

Received the following email message from some God-hating, Constitution-hating atheist a couple hours ago which prompted my question. Does not appear to me the city had been violating the constitution at all.

Sir,

You have a regular commentator from Upland, Calif. called Doug, who has been a contributor for many years. He once made a comment concerning 12 life sized Nativity displays in Ontario, Calif. that a single person who’s name he could not remember, filed a lawsuit against the city with the help from the ACLU. All he knew was the guy was an atheist.

Could you please tell “Doug from Upland” that my name is [redacted]. I now live in San Antonio, and I am now a 66 year old atheist who is extremely proud that I won the lawsuit without going to court. I will never forget the night the newspaper reporter called me up and said that the city attorney told the mayor and city council they had been violating the Constitution for 40 years, and must find a private place to store the statues, and volunteers to put them up and take them down. I still thought they should not be a state hwy so I continued the lawsuit in another direction, but I had to move because there were no jobs. You have my permission to give Doug from Upland my email address, so he can apologize for calling me an [expletive deleted]. The [expletive deleted] were all the Christians who showed such disrespect to their own Constitution. And the ACLU refused to help me, so I did it alone.
thank you
[name redacted]

Sorry to hear [name redacted] moved to San Antonio. I would think that Caracas would have been a better fit for him.

No, the prohibition of such observances is a government preference for and promotion of the Atheist religion, in violation of the First Amendment.

You can chalk it up to a loss then. While I wish that they would, I will be very surprised if they do. My disappoint with the Republican Party goes back to 2000. One of the reasons I voted for George Bush was hoping he would prosecute the members of the Clinton crime cartel, including Hillary. Since that did not happen, I learned not to expect nothing from the Republican Party and have not been disappointed since.

When you’re in the right about important principles, never give-in, never give-up, never surrender.

If a law has the effect of prohibiting the free exercise of religion, anyplace by any government, the law is null and void.

Well, it definitely prohibits government from trampling on our rights, but in the case of the first amendment, it specifically restricts the congress. Most of the others apply to all levels of government. The 10th defends the rights and powers of the states and the people from being trampled on by the feds.

Yup. As would be an errant supreme court ruling.

People are confused about the religious part of the first amendment. It says that our government cannot make laws about any religion and that the government cannot prohibit people from freely exercising their religion. Having a Christmas scene on public property is not a law. But I am not surprised. The left twists reality to fit their narrative; and sadly, Christians have stood back with bland smiles on their faces and let the atheist have their way.

If he was really an atheist, he wouldn't care.

I had to move because there were no jobs.

Sounds like when God left, the jobs left with Him. So why did you follow God to Texas?

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

As far as I’m concerned, an atheist= enemy agent. Whether consciously, or just a dupe, same effect.
