"Property taxes mean that you don't own the property, you're just renting it from the government. In my perfect world there would be no such thing as property taxes and owned property would be unseizable. " Me too.

I am sure that's what the DOJ wants, and I am sure they are twisting as many arms as possible to make it happen.
Won't stop the post announcement looting.

now that police mostly target assets for enforcement, it makes sense that the market needs non police to actually *protect* assets.

And in the end, if all costs of security, destruction of property, and wasted time were added up, it would be enough to put all the black kids of Ferguson through decent schools.
If they wanted to go.

On the one hand you have the jack booted thugs
On the other side, you have...the thugs.
Caught in the middle are the various innocent parties who would all probably be a whole lot better off if both groups of thugs managed to wipe each other out in the course of this little dispute hence my inability to find a side to root for.

They should hire illegals and um pay 8.50. That way they can save about 2 bucks.
A win win.

Maybe, but I doubt there was much of anything in that place to be worth risking a major heist, even before the looting started-and today, you probably couldn’t even find enough food for a week, never mind anything worth fencing-by now the place has been burned and looted into oblivion...

FWIW, last week there was a list of locations all over the country where protests were planned the day of or the day after the decision. One of them was an area near St Louis that was not in the ‘hood. There were others in target-rich areas for looters.

That, in my opinion is pretty dumb-planning “protests” outside the area where this started, and using those protests provide cover for looting or any other theft is not going to go unnoticed by any law enforcement officials with a brain-they’ll have the area watched/guarded to prevent just such a thing-to not do so would be very poor risk management, affect the bottom lines of local businesses and produce lawsuits...

I find it odd as well that this is happening now. Anyone who had gold or a gun shop surely made plans and took action months ago.
To: cornfedcowboy
I may similar comments a few weeks back stating that any business in and around Ferguson that had large screen TVs and expensive electronics in their stores deserved to have them looted.
Several Freepers took exception to that belief, stating that all it did was hurt the businesses. But here they are, doing something similar. It's a bad situation regardless for local businesses.
