Latest Obamacare ‘Tweak’ a Doozy
pjmedia ^ | Nov. 22, 2014 | Rick Moran

Americans are inveterate tinkerers — a trait commented on by observers from de Tocqueville to Winston Churchill.

That’s why it’s not surprising that the bureaucrats at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services would want to keep tweaking Obamacare. Mind you, it’s not so much because they think they can perfect the law. Rather, they keep tweaking the law in order to keep the American people from brandishing pitchforks and coming to Washington to tar and feather them and ride them out of town on a rail.

Self-preservation can be a marvelous motivating factor.

The geniuses who brought us the dysfunctional website healthcare.gov are in a panic because just about every Obamacare policy is going up in price. So rather than having American citizens deal with such unpleasantness, our intrepid bureaucrats have hit upon a brilliant scheme: why not change the auto-renewal rules of Obamacare premiums by automatically shifting a consumer from a policy that went up in price over to a cheaper policy? Of course, the cheaper policy will have fewer benefits and a larger deductible. And some people may actually like the policy they have now.

Exactly right...
“IF” you and I can be taxed for something that we “don’t do”...
can we be taxed for...
...not buying a car?
...not buying a house?
...not having a retirement plan?

Wouldn’t automatically shifting to lower benefits for the same price w/o the insured’s consent be FRAUD???

I sat around for a while and tried to think about
what our fedgov requires “We The People” to do.

While there are are a lot of things the fedgov requires
that “if you do this...then you must do that...” like:
...IF you travel outside the U.S - you MUST have a passport...
...IF you have income - you MUST pay income tax...
...IF you are a male at age 18 - you MUST register for the draft.

I can not think of anything other than Obamacare
that “We The People” are penalized for if we “do not” so something.

I’m sorry you have to deal with that. Doctors have enough patient suffering to deal with as a natural consequence of the profession. The last thing you need is to be the bearer of bad tidings brought on by idiot politicians.

first we have to uninsure the insured

second we REQUIRE the newly uninsured to be RE-insured

third to re-insure the newly uninsured they are required to pay more to be insured

forth the extra charges are required so that the original insured who became uninsured and then became re-insured can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured which to them will be free of charge...

The contract is for a single year, close to expiring, and the default choice for the new one-year contract is changing in some cases. The consumer is free to pick another plan or the original plan is it still is offered. Much ado about nothing.

So all Obamacare contracts are for only one year? Every year all policy holders must go back to the exchange? I’m in the VA health care system.

Contract law is the very foundation of American society.

I have a contract with an organization to replace my bathroom sink. So they instead put on an addition to the house for a complete second bathroom and that’s just fine with lawyers, the courts, and everyone not the violated party (me)?

I think not.

Sounds like the logical extension of the way that they jigger the cost of living figures to claim that there is no inflation. Even on FR some have supported this bizarre thinking which goes like this, if the price of porterhouse steak goes up rapidly don’t include it in the “basket” of goods on which the CPI is calculated, instead just assume that people will switch over to turkey drumsticks or some such which have not gone up in price, therefore no increase in cost of living. They pretend that the cost of “living” can be kept from rising by constantly lowering the STANDARD of living. Applied to health care this may eventually result in people being required to buy insurance policies which cover nothing worth mentioning. They will still tout it as a great success because people are paying “3000 percent less” than anticipated for their worthless policies. Welcome to Bizarro world.

Obamacare is the only instance I know of where people are required to buy something simply because they are adult citizens. Some NONTHINKERS of the liberal persuasion immediately go into a rant about being required to buy automobile insurance but they are so far off the mark that it is absurd.

First that is a state requirement rather than federal, powers not granted to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people.

Secondly you are not required to buy auto liability insurance simply because you exist, you are not even required to buy it to own a car, you are only required to buy it if you own a car and intend to drive it on public roads. If you are fortunate enough to own a large acreage you can drive around on your own property forever without liability insurance.

Thirdly auto liability insurance protects other people from YOU! It does not protect you other than to protect you from incurring judgements which you are unable to pay. It is not required that you have any insurance to protect yourself in most states against the possibility that you may run off the road into a ditch and be injured. You are also not required to buy COLLISION insurance on a car if you have no debt on it, only to protect the lender if you owe money secured by the title to the automobile.

Anytime a liberal comes up with this lame defense for the individual mandate in Obamacare, tell him he is out of his pea pickin’ mind. Also tell him that if he thinks this meets the test of the constitution simply because a Republican chief justice voted for it against all reason he is an utter fool. Would a requirement that everyone buy a quart of strawberry ice cream every week be constitutional simply because a bunch of black robed terrorists said so?
