Latest Obamacare ‘Tweak’ a Doozy
pjmedia ^ | Nov. 22, 2014 | Rick Moran

Americans are inveterate tinkerers — a trait commented on by observers from de Tocqueville to Winston Churchill.

That’s why it’s not surprising that the bureaucrats at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services would want to keep tweaking Obamacare. Mind you, it’s not so much because they think they can perfect the law. Rather, they keep tweaking the law in order to keep the American people from brandishing pitchforks and coming to Washington to tar and feather them and ride them out of town on a rail.

Self-preservation can be a marvelous motivating factor.

The geniuses who brought us the dysfunctional website healthcare.gov are in a panic because just about every Obamacare policy is going up in price. So rather than having American citizens deal with such unpleasantness, our intrepid bureaucrats have hit upon a brilliant scheme: why not change the auto-renewal rules of Obamacare premiums by automatically shifting a consumer from a policy that went up in price over to a cheaper policy? Of course, the cheaper policy will have fewer benefits and a larger deductible. And some people may actually like the policy they have now.

More good news about the “wildly popular” ObamaCare.

The increases and DeathPanels are NOT for the EXEMPT,
limited to Congress, SCOTUS, POTUS, Gruber,
and their families and staff, ... and Moslems.

WHAT COULD BE FAIRER?

Then you are not auto renewing the same product or T’s and C’s.

This would be grounds for a massive lawsuit in the real world.

Yes it would. But now we live in a make-believe world, with unicorns, rainbows and gruberisms.

One more time...”If you like your plan, you can keep your plan”. To tweak that phrase...”Unless we change it for you.”

Most will probably not notice because their deductibles are so high already and any licensed English speaking doctor will probably not take their policy anyway.

I am not in a position to have “standing” in court,
but there are many who will be as of January 1, 2014,
when those who have not entered into a contract with
a medical insurance provider will be subject to a tax
for “NOT” doing something.

I expect yet another case going to the supreme court after that.

This will be the first time the federal government
has penalized anyone for “NOT” doing something.

And naturally they won't tell you that you've been shifted from one policy to another so unless you read the voluminous text of your coverage every year, and with your photographic memory notice the changes, you won't know what happened until you actually need to use your insurance and find out you're not covered anymore.

Don't understand this. Isn't a policy a contract between the subscriber and the insurance company? Any attempt to change that contract even by the government would be tortuous interference? Wouldn't this really piss of the insurance companies who are having their customers taken away?

Don’t know about this. There will be lawyers involved. Don’t recall anything in Obamacare that allows the government to chose your carrier for you. If this were so why were exchanges even necessary?

Already I hate having people with Obamacare policies in the hospital. They cover next to nothing, and forget about homecare services, etc. Patients would actually be better off without insurance. At least then they would fall into the charity category, and we could get them some services. Now we have people who spend a ridiculous amount of money on worthless policies, and find out just how worthless they are if they are unfortunate enough to need hospitalization. The only ones Obamacare really does anything for are those who now qualify for medicaid under the expanded guidelines.

This is the worst part of Obamacare - enabling the government to tax people for NOT taking an action. Out government is a system of precedent. From now on, every debate will begin with “As determined in Obamacare, we can level a tax on the people for not buying (insert something here) to subsidize lower costs for the participants.”

And the precedent and “logic” can be applied to ANYTHING.
