I do not get why someone didn’t take out Stalin, Hitler, Idi Amin, Khmer Rouge, Kim Young One, Charman Mao before they could kill millions. Inconceivable. Unbelievable. Inexcusable.
Regicide is never easy.
There are several obvious reasons. The first is that hindsight is 100%. At the time it is happening, it is far from clear exactly what is happening.
Just look at the recent shredding of the Constitution by King Barry, and how numerous pundits and new media are doing everything they can to convince us that it is all legal and constitutional. Now multiply that by 100 for totalitarian regimes.
Second, dictators did not get there by being careless about their personal safety. There were numerous plots to kill Hitler, none succeeded. It is a very difficult thing to do. You cannot, as an outsider, even be certain that the person you are killing is the one intended, they may be a body double, which have commonly been used.
Third, the countries involved are often in severe crises of war, famine, and economic distress, all of which the dictator blames on outside or interior enemies, and exhorts everyone to be on the look for, and to be especially patriotic (which means to obey him).
