I would slowly push the car forward as long as the people let the car move on. If the mob starts attacking the car I would go somewhat faster to make it more difficult to attack, and if they go crazy I hit the pedal as best I can to get away.
As far as someone dying in that situation, well they are creating the problem and are putting me at risk in public areas doing illegal activities.
IMO you have to take this as far as they make you go. Black, white, yellow or whatever, it makes no difference who the mob is.

Always keep the speed down. a human with pants around his thighs can only run about 2 mph. A rioter with a brick in hand maybe 12 mph. No need to risk air bag deployment by speeding away. And, if they get hold of the car, it will be more fun to drag them until a tree or a pole presents itself to scrape them off.
I consider speeding away going faster than most people can run, not going freeway speeds on a city street.
Hate to say it, but these days you may have to hope criminals doing acts of crime die during the criminal act due to stupid juries awarding jerks money for getting hurt while perpetrating a crime against you.
