Univision’s Jorge Ramos: ‘Obama Is Paying a Debt to the Latino Community’

By announcing executive action on immigration policy, President Barack Obama is paying “a debt” to the Latino community, said Univision and Fusion anchor Jorge Ramos.

In an interview moments after the president announced his executive decision to halt deportations and provide work permits for undocumented immigrants currently in the United States, Ramos suggested to Fusion colleague Alicia Menendez the move is especially important for Latinos considering his previous inaction on reform.

“It’s an important victory for the Latino community,” he said. President Obama had made reform a major platform of his 2008 campaign but failed to deliver in the eyes of many in that particular community.

Ramos’ career is dependent on a divided nation. A nation of English as the sole unifying language eliminates the need for a Spanish Univision channel except as possibly an paid subscription on cable.

If the GOP were not the stupid party the English official language amendment would have passed long ago.

In other words, another 25 or 30 million that either will compete with Americans and legal immigrants searching for scarce jobs or are going to be added to welfare, bankrupting Medicaid and the food stamp system as well as ruining even more the quality of the public schools with the massive infuse of hundreds of thousands of children without speaking English to already overburdened schools systems.
