By the way Graham haters...
He won his State with majority support..
South Carolina wanted him... His re election helped the Republicans to have control of the Senate...
Not happy with that then move to SC and make your vote and mouth count...
Seems to me this is a case of “A broken clock.....”
It should go back to 60, that makes it even harder for Obama’s nominees to go through.
It was a deliberate play to pack the courts in the small amount of time the Dems figured they’d have the Senate.
Look at the three appointees to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. Hard core leftists who flipped the majority of the second most important court in the US. Look at the impact they’ll have on the Obamacare subsidies case, which Conservatives won in the three judge panel but was immediately appealed en banc because the Dems know they now own the majority of the full bench.
The GOP are like any collaborator party desperately clinging to power in their final days
The coming demographic avalanche will destroy America as we know it
Camp of the Saints more or less
The founders and western civilization overrun and replaced by new heritage and icons
Che....Tutu....Zapata....Mandela
Expect the old white men vanquished
The huffington post article lies about filibusters, falsely claiming that the republicans filibustered a lot of judges.
In fact, the democrats filibustered twice as many judges during the Bush years.
The HP and most media outlets have falsely equated “cloture votes” with “filibusters”.
Cloture votes of course are the votes that force debate to a conclusion. Reid used them all the time rather than the normal process of just asking for a vote. Often, he’d file cloture at the same time he introduced a nomination.
It isn’t a “filibuster” if there is no debate before cloture, and if the cloture vote passes.
Remember Miguel Estrada?
Now in a sense, I do understand his point about going back to the old rules in order to get legislation on the presidents desk so he will have to veto it. However, its just stooopid to give away all ones cards as he is doing. Make the democraps eat their own iron fisted rules for a little bit at least.
And here we go. Shooting ourselves in the effing foot and congress hasn’t even started yet. IDIOTS
Good idea.
With the majority, there won’t even be votes if the leadership doesn’t want them. For example, there were several Obama appointees that NEVER CAME TO A VOTE. They were not filibustered, Reid simply never scheduled a vote for them, because he didn’t want his party to have to vote for the nominees.
With the proper judiciary committee assignments, no bad judge needs to even come out of committee, much less get a floor vote scheduled.
Bad Idea.. but if we do.. then only do so after the same number of days that the dems had no buster!
“what in heavens name is wrong with the posters here...that would want to keep it at 51 votes...CHANGE IT BACK TO 60 VOTES.
YES RESTORE THE SENATE FILIBUSTER RULES THAT DEMOCRAT HARRY REID CHANGED TO BENEFIT HUSSEIN OBAMA...”
This is what I dont get either.
People here WANT it to be easy for his nominees to get through? Like what the hell can we do with this if the president is a Democrat?
“And here we go. Shooting ourselves in the effing foot and congress hasnt even started yet. IDIOTS”
So you want only 51 votes to pass an Obama nominee?
Maybe I’m confused.
From reading the article, it used to take 60 votes for confirm a nominee.
Harry Reid had it changed to 51, which made it easier for Obama’s appointees to go through.
Now, Graham wants to put it back to requiring 60 votes, which would make it more difficult for Obama’s appointees to go through.
Or am I missing something here?
If Senate Democrats want to restore Senate filibuster rules, let them bring it up, and let them work for it, but don’t give it to them anytime soon. Linda wants media love.
That’s what I’m reading. Unless I’m really off here.
I want it to be as hard as possible. Making it 60 votes makes it that.
BIG,BIG mistake
I didn’t vote for him. I just couldn’t.
Dear Harry: Elections have consequences. This is another pillar in the vast pool of evidence that The Law Of Unintended Consequences is very much intact.
