Richmond, VA (1140wrva.com) – Former U.S. Senator Jim Webb (D), despite having retired from just one term in Washington, has announced he is forming an exploratory committee to consider running for President. If he did run, he would likely have to beat former First Lady Hillary Clinton in the primaries.

Webb says the country needs leadership, and a willingness to work beyond partisan lines. He says he is beholden to no one, and will not govern by polls. He also stresses that he feels the equality of opportunity in the U.S. has been backsliding, and he would work to change that.

Here in Virginia, dems love Webb. Like Kerry, he has a military background that can be paraded to portray him has tough and pro-GI Joe. Like Kerry, once he starts uttering things, the forked tongue slithers out and knocks off the mask to reveal the hideous lib underneath.

Pat Buchanan wants this guy as prez. because he ran an antisemitic campaign for his Senate seat.

He’s been all over the map politically. He served as Secretary of the Navy in the Reagan Administration. He wrote an interesting book on the Scotts-Irish and ruined it by claiming they should become just one more assertive ethnic-identity group clamoring for government largess. The guy is actually more of an opportunist than a principled advocate, which is why his returned to the Democrat party made some sense.

Hilarious.

His singular accomplishment (aside from writing raunchy fiction) was beating George Allen. AFAIK, he did nothing during his one term in the Senate.

He has no money, no organization and no grass roots fired up to work for him. You need at least one of those things. And Maccacca only works once.

Good luck with that, Jimbo.

Sorry Jim but Hillary and Liz got this one. You’re a White man in the Democratic Party. Sorry pal, but you’re not the right color or gender for 2016.

He was a vote for Obamacare if I’m not mistaken. That should sink his ship immediately.

IIRC, his stint in the Reagan administration was not because he believed in Reagan’s policies. I believe he quit as SecNav due to disagreements over policy. I’ll have to go back and find the source. He really plays the “I worked for Reagan card” but he is in no way a Reaganite.

Webb parlayed the book title “Born Fighting” into a campaign slogan when he ran vs. Allen in 2006.

But once he got into office, Mr. “Born Fighting” turned out to be a Harry Reid acolyte who did nothing for the state of Virginia. Webb also voted well over 90% in concert with Obama’s agenda, and cast one of the deciding votes in favor of Obamacare.

“Born fighting,” my ass.
