Need to a stack of paper nearby to attach the paper clip to when not in use otherwise!
What ever happened to Sandra Day Oconner's decision that a hacksaw near a shotgun did not make the gun illegal?
“That may really be why the cops pulled them over”
Newport Beach is a high income area, and it doesn’t take much, to get pulled over. According to the article, it was a van, with expired tags, and an ‘equipment violation’. It doesn’t mention that the lovely couple didn’t fit into the local demographics, but you can bet that was a factor, as well.
Thanks.
“A Newport Beach police officer spotted a green Dodge Caravan with an expired registration and equipment violation”
Sigh. Thank goodness most street criminals are dumber than a box of hammers,as one of my cop friend’s likes to state.
These fools broke Catnipman’s first law of lawbreaking: “If you’re going to break a law, break only one law at a time.”
“Cali gun laws are nuts”
True that, but even if you forget about all the firearm laws they broke, these were two nogoodniks that needed to be taken off the streets. In addition to the other laws they broke, as noted by another poster, they also had a “how to” manual, for identity theft.
When I first saw the headline, in this morning’s paper, I was in agreement with you, but further reading shows that these were two individuals bent on mayhem. Throw away the key, I say ! Thanks.
I'd go further. The primary thing that causes the violence which surrounds prohibited items is the lack of legal avenues for contract dispute. If Pedro shorts you in his delivery, you can't take him to court over it. Some form of conflict will occur, and what is left is private violence. For legal items, you have the implied violence of the state to enforce its decrees. It's why the enforcement of contracts is a legitimate and fundamental part of government.
What happened? I doubt I would vote to convict for possession of any of that. Misuse of same, (i.e., threats/use of the weapons) is a different thing entirely.
The OC Register writers know nothing about firearms. When cop killer Christopher Dorner’s weapons were displayed in February 2013 the story identified the hunting rifle as a sniper’s rifle. Many commenters complained to the writer and editor and their response: we don’t know anything about guns.
Come on, you need all of those just to get a parking space in Newport Beach!!!
Don't place that bet until after you read the article......LOL!
Why not? It seems to be working as badly.
You equate ALL failures the same? I don't, not by a long shot.
No, that's your straw man - we've discussed only two failures here.
I don't, not by a long shot.
I'm pleased to see your implicit admission that the War on Drugs is a failure. How is it "not by a long shot" as great a failure as Prohibition? It's enriched criminals at least as much and probably more.
Sounds like some misplaced props from an episode of “Sons Of Anarchy”.
