The First Rule of Amnesty Fight Club ("cut off Democrats in Congress. From everything")
November 19, 2014 | Robert Tracinski

... this isn’t about amnesty or immigration. It’s about executive power. And Republicans need it to not be about immigration....

A fight between the legislature and the executive is one that Congress isn’t likely to win. Yes, it can defund some White House activities, which means they’ll shut down White House tours for school kids and blame Republicans. Brit Hume is right about the iron rule of shutdowns: Republicans always take the fall.

So what can we do? Just give up and wait him out?

No. But we can fight a battle that’s a lot easier for congressional Republicans, using powers that are fully within their sphere of authority and targeting an enemy that is more likely to feel the pain.

Don’t make this a battle between Congress and the president. Make it a battle within Congress. Specifically, cut off Democrats in Congress. From everything.

The Democrats are not-so-secretly hoping that now that they are about to be in the minority, Mitch McConnell will restore the old rules and everything will be fine.

He should let them know that he would like to do that—if Obama renounces unilateral executive action, on amnesty or on any other issue. If not, then the minority gets cut off from everything. Same in the House: they don’t even get to sit on committees. They will spend the next two years as ornaments, able to do nothing. Maybe Republicans can even cut their staffs and give them the really tiny, out-of-the-way offices.

Yeah...but McConnell would never do that; Cruz would, but Kentucky granddad is a eunuch.

Yeah, I’m not optimistic. But as long as we’re wishing for things, I would like the next Republican president to declare a Fair Tax on the day of his or her inauguration. Abolish the IRS, have a Fair Tax — stroke of the pen, law of the land.

I mean — why the hell not?

The Republican victory was fairly unprecedented and it was not a mandate to cooperate with Obama. Quite the opposite. America gets it. It’s time to take the gloves off.

McConnell thinks he is in a debate club.

The democrats are in a bare knuckle brawl with no holds barred.

The House should simply refuse to fund anything other than the military if the Sultan insists on his Decrees and Ukases.

That’s what McConnell and Boehner are all about, too. Their re-election to leadership positions shows that Republicans Party are not serious about anything beyond the usual, getting permanently wealthy.

Send up piece meal bills. Let Obama define things by refusing to sign them. When he gets mad and says he will not sign a million bills put them all in one. Then send that up. Don’t include anything he can use against the people by executive order. Just don’t fund it.

And like what was said no Democrats input period.

Exec order and close IRS over 2-4 year period.

With Flat Tax the IRS in its current form would not be needed. Plus, it has such a horrible rep it should just be closed forever.

Legalize several million new Democrats and this is your last GOP congress.

O doesn’t care what this congress does if he gets away with this. Its check mate.

Do to them what the Rats did back in the 60’s. Don’t even tell them where or when meetings are.

Even if the tyrant steps down in 2017, the tyranny will remain, for the executive branch precedents of Obama will not go away. Until we restore federalism with a constitutional amendment or two, the best we can hope for are benevolent dictators.

Republicans always take the fall.

Not the last one.Ted Cruz's "shut down" caused the Democrat's election debacle a couple weeks ago.
