The Mexican Revolution, which began on November 20, 1910, and continued for a decade, is recognized as the first major political, social, and cultural revolution of the 20th century. The United States, Mexico’s northern neighbor, was significantly affected by the human dislocation that resulted: if someone did not want to fight, the only alternative was to leave the country—and over 890,000 Mexicans did just that by legally emigrating during the second decade of the 20th century….

Mr. Obama is trying hard to make an imprint upon history. I like asking Mexicans WHEN the Revolution started... does anyone know when it ended? Does anyone know how many died. In school text books, it is likened unto the Bolshevik Revolution and Trotsky came to town, the MOTTO, THE LAND BELONGS TO THE PERSON WHO TILLS IT, some say was borrowed from the Russian Communist takeover. About the same time frame.

Symbolism? Nope, intentional. This is just more in-your-face spitefulness against Americans.

And we are powerless to stop this action. Republicans give lip service, at best to protests. Depressing, very depressing.

In a country that at the time had less than twenty million people I've read estimates that over a million Mexicans died during the approx. ten years of conflict. Of course, the national economy was almost totally destroyed. Virtually all the major players including the major rebels Zapata and Villa met with violent deaths. Although Villa's death occurred after most of the major hostilities ended. Many of the gov. leaders were also swallowed up by the violence.

You realize if that happened the only thing that would change would be the location of the border that Mexicans would cross to get away from a despotic corrupt country.

A shutdown might show the voters that the Republicans might be actualy serious, but only if they do not cave this time before their goals are attained.

I think the House should refuse to fund anything other than the military so long as Obama is acting outside the Conbstitution and statute law.
