The original Obama movement was so rapturous that stating the obvious — you can't eat hope and the rhetoric was mostly empty — seemed small-minded and a cynical snub to those people who clearly felt they were about to see real change, especially black voters who were feeling the kind of fierce emotions that most of us could never understand.
"We are the ones we've been waiting for," he'd tell the crowds. Whatever that meant, it sounded good.
Today, though, Obama must — must — at least be contemplating the possibility that he has failed.

If you were to ask Obama he would say that the country has failed him, but in fact he is the standard for success.

This all presupposes the Barry presidency was ‘done’ from the beginning. It wasn’t. It was, as the article points out, merely a pile of rhetoric. Any action revolved around preening, partying and helping his buds get a pile of tax money. The aftermath is a mass of simpletons wondering what hit them. Guber was right, by and large the electorate is stupid. They prefer to be lied to. Only when it appears their goodies/favors from the govt are going to be taken away do they become unhappy.
