Why Jonathan Gruber is conservative catnip (cause you Freepers are mean!)
Washington Post ^ | November 18, 2014 | Chris Cillizza

Watch Fox News Channel or listen to Rush Limbaugh these days and you will get a very large helping of Jonathan Gruber, the MIT professor whose comments about the "stupidity" of the American people in relation to the passage of the Affordable Care Act has reignited political debate over the law.

Gruber is quite clearly conservative catnip. But why?

The key to understanding why Gruber has become a cause celebre -- but not in a good way -- for conservatives is that his comments about the ACA confirm two things that the right has long believed about Democrats and the law: (a) The ACA was made purposely vague to keep the public in the dark about its depth and breadth, and (b) liberals think conservatives are stupid.

[Snip]

So, it's not just that the Obama administration is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. It's that they think you, conservative American, are too stupid to even notice. That's a double whammy of outrage about a topic -- the ACA -- that already had a long history of inflaming conservatives. And that's why conservatives can't get enough of Jonathan Gruber.

God, forgive me, I hate these people so much. And not for the sake of hating, but for the sake of their wanting my slavery.

Joe Wilson was right, as if the world didn’t know already, but this just reaffirms.

(b) liberals think conservatives are stupid.

Sorry, Cillizza, you need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Answer these questions: How many conservative voters voted for Obama? How many Republicans in Congress voted for Grubamacare? Who rose up in 2010 and 2014 and raised h*** about the bill? Who didn't come out and vote for Romney largely because they didn't trust him on healthcare?

Seems to me that the real "stupid" people are those who voted for Obama and the Democrats in Congress who voted for the bill, whether or not they really understood what was in it.

If the shoe fits, wear it. In this case, the stupid shoe fits Democrats, not conservatives.

You might want to check the second thought bubble there...

“you’re too stupid to under-big”?

Uh, conservative Americans DID notice the deception in this bill. That's why no Republican voted for it.

The "stupid" voters that fell for this were ALL Democrats.

Gruber is referring to them.

as reported at DU it isn’t conservatives that are stupid. They didn’t vote for it. It was liberals whom Gruber called stupid.

I still remember some liberal dork attorney telling me how effing “brilliant” Timothy Geithner is. These criminals love to tell us how smart they are.

Rush covered this on yesterday’s program, and Cillizza still has it wrong. The reason that Gruber is “catnip” for conservatives is that his remarks prove that we were right about Obamacare all along. We weren’t fooled, and we were trying to inform people about how bad Obamacare would be. Cillizza is still a pompous jackass.

" And that's why conservatives can't get enough of Jonathan Gruber. "

No, the country has had more than enough of this asshole and his ilk already.

It's not to late to do something about it, but that is going to require an opposition party with a majority and effective leadership in both houses of congress.

Otherwise, those who say we can't vote our way out of this might begin to have a point.

Money quote! Aren’t the biggest jerks in the world the ones who want to enslave us?

Muslims, communists, liberals, gungrabbers, anyone who thinks “Gemeinnutz vor Eigenutz” (the collective over the individual), and who seek the raw power to do so.

These are not nice people.

Suppose the entire Gruber situation were reversed. Imagine a Tea Party President who manages to sneak his signature legislation through via a strict party-line vote. Let’s say the legislation is about welfare reform. And what is hidden in the legislation is complicated verbiage that obscures the fact that African-Americans would no longer be eligible for welfare.

Now, a couple of years have passed, and citizens, particularly Black ones, have noticed that the legislation is not doing what it was purported to do, and that, in fact, millions of African-Americans are now hungry and homeless.

Imagine, if you will, that some enterprising citizen uncovers some video that was shot during the implementation of this law. The star of the video is a southern racist who laughs and mocks the stupidity of the public, who didn’t realize exactly what the intended outcome was.

Do you think the mainstream would cover THAT?
