Israel is to ease controls on carrying weapons for self-defense after a deadly Palestinian attack on a Jerusalem synagogue, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said on Tuesday.
"In the coming hours, I will ease restrictions on carrying weapons," he said in remarks broadcast on public radio, indicating it would apply to anyone with a license to carry a gun, such as private security guards and off-duty army officers.

Aharonovitch did not elaborate, but it is believed that under the planned changes security personnel would be allowed to carry their arms even when off duty..

HELLO! WHAT TOOK SO LONG? Israel should’ve had this law , a long time ago. Let me remind the country of Israel, you’ve been at war with these Muslims from the beginning of your country, in 1948. What makes you think that you can “PLAY NICE” with these people. Their aim is to destroy you and every thing pertaining to the Jewish religion from the Middle East. And they aren’t going to stop, until they accomplish thos, or you defeat them thoroughly
As long as your a member of the Israeli Military your allowed to carry a firearm. I saw it when I was in Israel two years ago, military walk around carrying rifles..it was really nice to see, felt very secure
I was told, also retired military officers, people living on the other side of the Green Line, and hunters.
Seeing the military carry weapons doesn’t make me feel safer, they do that in Mexico, I like to carry my own weapon.
My cousin served in the Israeli Military(its required, when you turn 18 you join the military, unless your very religious) and she still has her gun..not sure if she is allowed to carry it around with her but she does have it. When I visited Jerusalem, it was absolutely beautiful, but hot(Went in June) saw the Wall, visited the many shops, and you see military everywhere, went to the bathroom and there were a few female soldiers carrying their rifles and just talking amongst themselves
Looks like up to now, Israel is a “may issue” state, and not a “shall issue” state....
(”State” as in nation-state)
Time to remedy that situation...
Israeli citizens are unarmed? That explains much.
